Artist in Wilderness Program Seeks Applicants for 2016

Summary: Since 2008, the Artist in Wilderness program has offered one-week residencies each year, to allow a few select artists to make works inspired by the lands that Wilderness Workshops is working to protect. For 2016, four residencies are being offered, typically to be completed between June 1 and September 30th. Exact dates are worked out with each artist after they have agreed to participate.

Budget: Wilderness Workshop will provide selected participants with housing, a hiking guide as required, a $1500 stipend, and reimbursement for travel to/from Aspen for up to $1,000 ($400 for Colorado residents).

How to apply: applications accepted via CaFĂ© system

Eligibility Requirements: None, however traditionally at least one residency is awarded to a Colorado artist

Special Notes: Good health and endurance are essential, including the ability to walk five miles on uneven terrain. The artist will be responsible for his/her own food, equipment and materials, and will be expected to comply with all relevant USFS/BLM regulations. This call is open to all media, 2D and 3D, there is no guarantee that a sculptor will (or will not) be accepted this year.
