Structural Public Art Screen Wall

Summary: The County of Durham, North Carolina, invites qualified artists or artist teams to submit Qualifications for the design of a structural public art screen wall to enhance the exterior of the new 318 E. Main Street Parking Deck.

Gallery Exhibitions & Artist Residency
Mexico City, Mexico
Summary: Proyecto Galería is a Dab Art Co. satellite gallery located in Colonia Centro, Mexico City. This densely populated and culturally significant neighborhood is a mecca for the city’s art community.
Artists selected for exhibition will also recieve a one week virtual artist residency. Normal structures of our studio practices have been interrupted. Whether self-imposed or imposed from outside forces, the world is in quarantine. Artists are craving connection and creativity. In response to the outcry, Dab Art co. and Proyecto Galería has launched The Virtual Artists’ Residency.
Budget: Gallery retains a 50% commission on all exhibition sales in gallery & online

City of Redlands Public Art Project
Redlands, California
Summary: This is an art on loan program. The sculptures must be delivered to Redlands and at the end of the 2-year loan period they must be picked up. The works must be weather proof and designed to be seen by cars driving by the parkways or parks where they are installed.
Note: this appears to be the same call that we posted in July, now with an extended deadline. This is the summary from that prior call:
The city of Redlands, California is seeking proposals from sculptors for its Public Arts Program. Selected sculptures will be scattered throughout the city of Redlands. Sculptures will be displayed on temporary loan for two years, creating a dynamic rotating collection of public art around the city. The Redlands Public Art Project will include a printed walking, biking, and/or driving tour of the sculptures and a mobile-friendly online tour with artists discussing their work.

Emergency Medical Service Embedded Artist
Austin-Travis County, Texas
Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department seeks to commission multiple artists to create a permanent public artwork for services stations related to fire and emergency medical services

Coronado High School Public Art Project
El Paso, Texas
Summary: Graduates from the Class of 2017 are seeking to commission an artist to create, implement & illustrate a design (utilizing mixed media) which will interpret the iconic legend of the Thunderbird on the Franklin Mountains. This public art project will serve as the focal point of the main entrance to the Coronado High School campus located at 100 Champions Place, El Paso, TX 79912.

Las Cruces Fire Station 3
Las Cruces, New Mexico
Summary: LCPA seeks an artist or artist team to create a site-specific outdoor project to be designed and installed on the new Fire Station Three building tower (see attached images). The artwork can be made of a single or a mixed media, which must be durable, long-lasting (life of the building), safe and low maintenance. The artwork must include three sides of the tower. The artwork should meet the following environmentally safe criteria: UV/sun resistant, non-glare, no blinking lights, no distracting sounds, and no water.

Special Notes: Semi-finalists will receive a $500.00 honorarium for a written proposal and a maquette, renderings, or 2-D representations of the proposed artwork to be completed within 60 days of the notification of selection. One site visit will be required of each semi-finalist to include an in-person presentation of the artwork proposal to the Art Selection Committee and the public.

Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Project
Reno, Nevada
Summary: The RACC is seeking qualifications from artists or artist teams interested in developing and implementing a horizontal mural (on the ground) that covers the ReTRAC Plaza between Virginia Street and Sierra Street in the heart of downtown Reno.

Summary: The Greater Augusta Arts Council, as the public art agency for the City of Augusta, Georgia, is seeking ten (10) leasable, pre-existing, outdoor sculptures to be installed for two years in Downtown Augusta, GA for the Augusta Sculpture Trail.

Eligibility Requirements: The exhibition is open to all artists, preferably professional sculptors, who are at least 18 years of age and reside in the United States.
Special Notes: original, pre-existing art works, must be structurally sound so as to be secured to a 4′ x 4′ concrete pad with anchor bolts or similar devices, and not extend significantly beyond that boundary. The project must be of a scale large enough to be clearly visible from a distance of 50 feet.

Design Proposals of Public Art Works for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
Beijing, China
Summary: City sculptures will be an essential element of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and an important carrier to outspread the spirit of Beijing Winter Olympics and to reflect the combination of Chinese culture and advanced technologies.
Budget: For any proposal granted a “Nomination Award”, the Applicant will be given a prize of RMB 200,000 (after-tax) and a “Certification of Nomination Award”. Meanwhile, the Applicant will be given RMB 50,000 (pre-tax) for each proposal to be used to produce a model of the works with permanent materials (a three-dimensional sample).

Glendale, Indiana
Summary: The Arts Council of Indianapolis, on behalf of Kite Realty Group (KRG) and through the Public Art for Neighborhoods Program, is requesting qualifications from artists or artist teams who are interested in creating outdoor public artwork for the Glendale Town Center project.

Eligibility Requirements: This RFQ is an open call to experienced artists at least 18 years old. Artists living in or near Marion County, Indiana are strongly encouraged to apply.
Special Notes: Although a tentative site for the artwork has been identified, the selected artist may choose to engage any area of the project, keeping in mind that the purpose of Public Art for Neighborhoods is to provide a public amenity. Because of the accelerated project timeline, artwork integrated into structures will not be possible.

Public Artwork for Outdoor Plaza
Fremont, California
Summary: The City of Fremont, California is seeking artist proposals for the commission of an engaging and permanent public art installation for the new Downtown Event Center and Plaza in the City’s Downtown District. The artist will design, fabricate, and install the artwork. The area for the artwork is approximately 10 feet by 20 feet, with a maximum height of 10 feet.

Public Art: 124th RTD Station
Thornton, Colorado
Summary: The city of Thornton, in collaboration with the Regional Transportation District (RTD), is seeking to purchase existing (prefabricated), 3D, large scale work or designs for our station located at 124th Avenue and First Street. The public art work will serve as a gateway (entrance) into Thornton. The work should touch on the station’s overall theme and create a strong visual impact to help establish Thornton as an innovative and exciting destination-city; engaged in contemporary conversations on art and culture.

Special Notes: Preference will be given to those with existing work (prefabricated) or designs that are ready for purchase and can meet the scope of this project. Applicants who may not have prefabricated work, but are confident in their ability to design, install work, and meet the demands of the space and strict deadline are still encouraged to apply.

Maplewoods Parkway Public Art
Kansas City, Missouri
Summary: The City of Kansas City, Missouri One Percent for Art program seeks to commission works of art that advance public understanding of visual art and enhance the quality of public places by selecting a qualified artist who can innovatively and thoughtfully design within the context of this project.

Summary: We are excited to announce a call to artists to participate in Baltimore Community Foundation’s LGBTQ Fund MASKerade Baltimore – a Mask Design Competition & Virtual Event to raise awareness of and fundraise for issues facing the LGBTQ community. Since launching in 2018, the LGBTQ Fund at BCF has awarded nearly $100,000 to organizations fighting discrimination, providing health services, producing art and culture events and supporting young people with anti-bullying and suicide prevention programs.

The 5th Lih Pao International Sculpture Biennial Awards
Taiwan
Summary: First organized in 2011, the Lih Pao International Sculpture Biennial Awards returns in 2021 and invites sculptors from around the world to submit work on the theme of Infinity.
Budget: 1st prize $30,000 USD, other prizes also awarded

Eligibility Requirements: Participants must be under the age of 50. Any domestic and international applicants born after January 1 1970 (inclusive) are eligible to partake in the event. The submitted work must be created out of materials suitable for permanent exhibition.
Special Notes: Application proceeds in phases. First digital files are reviewed. Then up to 30 entries will be invited to submit models. From these, five will be chosen as honourable mentions, and five more will be invited to submit a further work eligible for competition prizes.
Winners of the First Prize, Tsai Yun Prize, Enterprise Award and Prize for Excellence will be invited to attend the award ceremony and subsidised for a three-day and two-night complimentary accommodation (voucher), also receiving an air ticket: 500 USD for travel in Asia and 1000 USD for travel to the rest of the world.

Art in the Galleria
Loveland, Colorado
Summary: The Art Selection Committee (ASC) of the Loveland Public Library seeks art by Colorado artists or artist teams for 2021 exhibits in the Galleria spaces. The Galleria display cases provide artists with valuable public exposure and sales opportunities.
The inside dimensions of the display cases are 21” w x 69” h x 19” d. Artwork must work well within the limits of the display case. The hanging systems allowed limit weight of hanging art to 16 pounds.
Budget: A $100 prize for Best of Show for the Year will be awarded sometime in November, 2021, based on jury evaluation of all of the pieces selected and displayed during the year.
