6 Call for Artists Nov 2019

6 Call for Artists round out November. There are many sculpture opportunities to be Thankful for this year at Thanksgiving time. Dig in and get an application in before you join the family at the table this year!

Pompano Beach Powerline Road
Entrance Sculpture

Pompano Beach, FL

Summary: The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist/artist team to design, fabricate, and install a free standing sculpture. This sculpture will be an entryway artwork into the City of Pompano Beach. Sculpture location will be on the east side of Powerline Road and McNab Road. Themes for the sculpture include futuristic, industrial, contemporary urban, power, and energy. Fee includes the creation of proper foundation, permits, and exterior lighting.

Budget: $50,000.00

Yountville Public Art Walk 2019

Yountville, CA

Summary: “Yountville’s Art Walk is an impressive collection that brought art to life in Yountville for everyone to enjoy.”

Over the past 10 years we have installed over 65 outdoor sculptures in Yountville. Most pieces are for sale, with a percentage of each sale going into the Yountville Arts fund and continuing to support arts-related activities and events. We have approximately 23 sculpture sites through the town located along Washington Street. All of the sites are visible from the sidewalk or from the walking path if located in a park.

Budget: Artists that are selected to participate in the Art Walk will be offered a stipend of $2,500 to assist with transportation and installation expenses. Payment will be made upon the successful installation of the sculpture

Eligibility Requirements: no restrictions provided

Special Notes: We have approximately 23 sculpture sites through the town located along Washington Street. All of the sites are visible from the sidewalk or from the walking path if located in a park. Existing concrete pads vary in size from 4’ x 4’ to 6’ x 6’.

Artwork must weigh no more than 2,000 pounds.

Any projections beyond the perimeter of the pad must occur at a minimum of 7’ above the ground.

Nebraska 1% for Public Art at University of Nebraska Medical Center

Omaha, NE

Summary: The goal of the artwork is to be an inviting, accessible and exciting for all age and development levels. Artwork must withstand or even invite touching and exploration, and be easily cleaned with normal cleaning agents. Acceptable materials include cast glass, mosaic, acrylic, wood, etc. Unacceptable work includes technology, wrapped canvas or additional protection requirements, protruding elements, or sensory overload. 

Budget: $89,500 ( The total budget is $89,500 for two sites. )

Eligibility Requirements: Professional public artists or artist teams throughout the United States are eligible. The committee may give preference to an artist who has an intellectual or developmental disability, or has a close connection with someone who does.

Special Notes: Two to four finalists will present proposals in Omaha, NE, and will receive travel and proposal stipends.

Nebraska 1% for Public Art at University of Nebraska Kearney

Kearney, NE

Summary: The University of Nebraska Kearney | STEM building selection committee, in partnership with the Nebraska Arts Council, is seeking RFQs for two new 1% for Art projects totaling $250,000. Project #1, $200,000 total for one large-scale sculpture or installation Project #2, $50,000 total for a collection of 2D pieces

Eligibility Requirements: Professional public artists or artist teams throughout the United States are eligible to apply for Project #1.

Professional artists from Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota are eligible to apply for Project #2.

Special Notes:

Project #1, $200,000 | large-scale sculptural piece in the two-story section of the central atrium, which is separated from the courtyard by a multi-paned glass wall and doors. The committee is interested in the idea of the artwork continuing into the courtyard on the other side of the glass wall for an exterior 3D sculpture. There is an opportunity of the art to incorporate some practical options like seating. A third, optional 3D component could expand to the East Atrium, which is more narrow and long but extends vertically between the first and second floor. The artwork should align with the overall concept and unify the building and the experience walking through the building.

Project #2, $50,000 | wall locations for 2D artworks for the central atrium and collaborative spaces on the first, second, third floor. The Selection Committee is seeking work that already exists and/or samples of representative work along with a statement of what could exist. Artists may submit individual works or series of works. All submitting artists should be able to propose work that aligns with the overall concept.
If the work is already completed, please include the size of the artwork and if applicable, the frame. The number of works commissioned depends on the price for each piece; please only submit works priced between $1,000 and $15,000

Nebraska 1% for Public Art at University of Nebraska Kearney

Kearney, NE

Summary: The selection committee for the new UNK Plamback Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is seeking RFQs for a new 1% for Art project, in consultation with the Nebraska Arts Council. The budget is $69,968 for the project.

Arts Elevated at RST

Rochester MN

Summary: The Rochester International Airport seeks to provide exceptional Customer-First service by creating a unique traveling experience. This is accomplished by caring for each and every customer by providing an enhanced sense of place and connection. The Greater Rochester Arts and Cultural Trust enriches the greater Rochester community by ensuring the continued celebration, promotion and advocacy of the arts and humanities. These two entities are partnering to combine their goals in a new program called “Arts Elevated at RST”.

Arts Elevated will showcase MN artists within the main terminal.

Budget: Artwork will be displayed for a term of six months. The Rochester International Airport will be responsible for creating identification labels. If sold during that time period, the Rochester International Airport will receive a 20% commission.
