We are pleased to announce 12 call for artists with deadlines April 11-20, 2021. These calls range from coast to coast in the US and we also have a call in Portugal. Looking for an exhibition? Have an existing piece that would be suitable for an art on loan program? Or are you looking for a new commission? We’ve got them all, so be sure to read through and find the right call for you.
Chicago Botanic Garden 50th Anniversary
Glencoe, Illinois
Summary: The Chicago Botanic Garden will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022. A series of public programs and art experiences will celebrate the Garden’s remarkable growth and will establish the tone for the next decade. We are looking for artists to be a part of this celebration.
Experiences will feature work from several artists in spaces throughout the Garden, with the goal of visitors encountering and interacting in different ways during the season. For this effort, we are seeking Statements of Interest from artists who are interested in developing a site-specific outdoor installation.
Budget: We expect budget for the artist fee (inclusive of concepting, planning, and materials; exclusive of transportation and installation) to be reflective of each artist’s scope of work and could range from $5k to $40k for individual commissions

Denver District 5 Police Substation and 911 Call Center
Denver, Colorado
Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original public artwork for the Denver District 5 Police Substation and new 911 Call Center located at 12025 E. 45th Ave. in the Montbello neighborhood in Denver.
Budget: $250,000

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to artists nationally. We are committed to building a public art collection that represents a broad diversity of artists based on race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, sexual orientation, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical disability. The selection panel is especially interested in artists who can demonstrate a deep understanding of the neighborhood, as well as the area’s history, urban landscape, surrounding neighborhoods, and in context with current social and cultural events.
Special Notes: The panel is very invested in cultural diversity, local history and community representation, and the desire to create a space that is inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to all. This is to be “the People’s Police Station” and should be a beacon of trust, unity, equity and transparency. Northeast Denver is home to many diverse communities, with the majority of the population consisting of African-Americans and Hispanic, Asian, and African immigrants. The panel hopes to see artwork(s) that reflect the rich cultures of the area.

Fire Dept. Training Center/Emergency Operations Center
San Jose, California
Summary: The City of San Jose is seeking an artist or artist team to create a public art surface enhancement for the exterior of the new joint facility that will house the Emergency Operations Center and the Fire Department Training Center. Due to architectural constraints, the possible sites and treatments are limited to specific locations on the façade of the building.
Budget: up to $300,000

Eligibility Requirements: This opportunity is open only to visual artists who maintain either a residential or studio address within one of the following Bay Area counties: Santa Clara, Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, Sonoma or Solano
Special Notes: Opportunity is for a 2-dimensional or low-relief surface enhancement on the building’s Senter Road plaster façade which would integrate well with the facility architecture, or a thin sculptural metal grid façade or laser/water cut panels primarily self-supported and with minor attachments to wall.

NEVER FORGET 911, Fire Station #4
Wylie Texas
Summary: The Public Arts Advisory Board of the City of Wylie, Texas seeks to commission an original, exterior, site-specific, functionally, philosophically, and artistically integrated space for the New Wylie Fire Rescue, Fire Station #4.
The design should include, a memorial reflecting the 343 FDNY Firefighters killed on 9/11. The WFR is working to obtain a piece of the World Trade Center; in the event a piece is obtained, a place to incorporate the piece within the design but not noticeable if a piece is not obtained. Materials can be stone, concrete, metal or other materials used to create a mural. Water features are desired but not required. Seeking muralist and sculptures!
Budget: $81,000

East Bridge Park Sculpture
Monticello, Minnesota
Summary: The City of Monticello’s arts program, MontiArts, is issuing a call for a large scale outdoor public sculpture to be installed in a premier river front park downtown. The sculpture will be attached to a footing provided by the city, and must be durable enough to withstand MN’s 4 season weather. The sculpture will be set into a landscaped area off a paved trail, overlooking the Mississippi River.
Budget: $15,000

Call for Rotating Art Sculpture Program
Green Bay, Wisconsin
Summary: The Rotating Art Program was created in order to beautify our community, promote our cultural identity, and encourage artistic engagement. The Green Bay Public Arts Commission (GBPAC) invites artists to submit existing or planned sculptures for the Rotating Art Program (RAP). Six concrete pads have been installed throughout the city to serve as platforms for the art to be on display for one year. Six artists will be selected to participate in the Rotating Art Program.
Budget: Participating artists will receive $1,500.00 for the transportation, installation, and removal of their loaned sculptural work.
Deadline: April 16, 2021, at 5:00 PM.

Eligibility Requirements: The call is open to all individuals and groups regardless of experience or background.
Special Notes: Weigh no more than 2,500 pounds.

Landmark Public Artwork at Providence Innovation District Park
Providence, Rhode Island
Summary: The City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and Art in City Life Commission invite artists to submit qualifications for a Landmark Public Artwork in the City’s new Providence Innovation District Park. This inaugural, large-scale, signature, permanent work of art will be the first of its kind in the City and is the first activation of Providence’s Art in City Life Ordinance, also known as a percent for art allocation. Successful proposals will grapple with the historic complexity of the site. A site brief accompanies this RFQ which outlines both the current site condition and use as well as historical context.
Budget: $850,000

Eligibility Requirements: This call for qualifications is open to professional artists within the United States. Lead applicant must be 18 years or older to be eligible to apply.
Artists with a home or studio address in Rhode Island and/or can demonstrate a personal connection to Providence, RI will be preferred.
Special Notes: An Art Selection Panel will review complete applications and score the submitted qualifications and select no more than three artists as finalists. Finalists will be contracted to complete a design proposal at a flat rate of $6500.00.
The three shortlisted artists will then be invited to a site visit in June 2021, after which the artist will be granted six weeks to develop a design proposal and construction drawings. Design Proposals must include a concept design, narrative description, method of fabrication and install, detailed project timeline and project budget. Guidance documents will be provided.

Evergreen Cemetery Veterans Monument RFQ
Gainesville, Florida
Summary: The Veterans Monument and Veterans Yard Project is an initiative of ECAGI with a mission to remember and recognize U.S. Veterans for their service and sacrifice by commissioning a monument within Evergreen Cemetery and to help with the infrastructure creation of a Veterans Yard dedicated to providing a tranquil final resting place for Veterans and their loved ones.
ECAGI and APPT are issuing a Request for Artist Qualifications (RFQ) with the intent of selecting 3 or more artists to submit proposals to design and fabricate a monument to be the focal point of the new Veterans Monument and Veterans Yard area. The monument would be situated adjacent a majestic oak at the end of a block-long, rectangular yard reserved for the interment of United States Military Veterans. It is the intent of the plan to reserve an area between the monument and the yard where attendees to events can be seated, with the monument and oak behind it as a visual “backdrop.”

Summary: POLDRA – Public Sculpture Project Viseu promotes site-specific contemporary public art/art in Public Space. POLDRA seeks works that propose new interpretations of the sites and spaces as well as encourage interaction between the viewer and the sites themselves. Through this dynamic, the works of art aspire to initiate connections that exist beyond the primary act of looking.

Oregon Supreme Court Interior Public Art RFQ
Salem, Oregon
Summary: Through the Oregon Arts Commission’s Art in Public Places Program, the Oregon Judicial Department seeks to commission artist(s) for new site-specific, interior artwork for the Oregon Supreme Court Building in Salem, OR.
Budget: $245,000

Eligibility Requirements: The RFQ solicitation and selection process is to be inclusive, encouraging a diverse selection of artists to apply, including women; artists from communities of color; LGBTQ+; and emerging artists. This RFQ is open to all artists and artist teams. Finalists will be selected based on the artist’s portfolio, experience, and letter of interest. Past use of community collaboration strategies and participation are a plus but not required for selection. Artist teams should have proven experience that demonstrates their professional qualifications working together as a team. Artists living in Oregon are encouraged to apply.
Special Notes: Artists are invited to consider site-specific artworks for the grand staircase walls,the floor area in a portion of the courtroom,and/or the large sidewalls in the courtroom. See the final pages of this document for more information and images.A few smaller locations not highlighted in the RFQ are also open for consideration, finalists will be given a full building tour.

Dogwood Arts Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
Knoxville, Tennessee
Summary: Up to 20 large-scale outdoor sculptures will be selected for the 2021-2022 exhibition with over $8,000 in awards and $40,000 in stipends presented to participating artists. Sculptures will be exhibited at prominent locations including McGhee Tyson Airport, Zoo Knoxville, University of Tennessee Gardens, the American Museum of Science and Energy, and throughout downtown Knoxville.
All works entered must have been created in the last five years and not previously exhibited in AIPP Knoxville.
Budget: all finalists whose works are installed will receive an Artist Stipend of $2,000. In addition there is $8000 in prizes.

Special Notes: There is a $25 application fee for this call
Artists are encouraged to sell their sculptures during the exhibition period. However, the work must remain on-site for the duration of the exhibition. Every effort is made to promote sales. All sales are handled by Dogwood Arts. The commission split is 80/20, with 80% going to the artist and 20% donated to Dogwood Arts. To date, Dogwood Arts has permanently placed over 16 sculptures.

Old Town Art Stroll
Coppell, Texas
Summary: CAC will award a stipend to up to 12 professional sculptures that are appropriate for public viewing and supports the family / community oriented values of Coppell. Sculptures are owned by the artist and are loaned to the exhibit for a two year period. CAC does conduct fundraising to purchase a sculpture and gift to the town. All sculptures musts be safe for a public setting and made of materials that can withstand the harsh Texas weather and not require any maintenance.
Due to the scale and openness of the park large, monumental sculptures are encouraged.
The artist is responsible for delivering the work to site during the installation periods of APRIL 30 2021 through MAY 15 2021.
Budget: The honorarium is $1,800 dollars with an additional $500 awarded to the People’s Choice.

Eligibility Requirements: Open to Artists from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Louisianna and Mississippi that are 18 years of age or older.
