Call for entries in Salisbury Sculpture contest for 2018
Summary: The Salisbury Public Art Committee announces a call for entries for the 2018 Salisbury Sculpture Show and its inaugural Arts & Agriculture program, a special extension of the Sculpture Show. The Salisbury Sculpture Show is a nine-month art show in which a select group of sculptures is placed throughout Salisbury, including in the downtown area and at the city’s three colleges. Last year, 18 entries were judged, with four sculptures chosen as winners.
Budget: Selected artists will receive a $1,250 stipend for each piece chosen in both sculpture shows

Special Notes: Entering its 10th year, the Salisbury Sculpture Show has featured artists from 10 states and has earned regional and national recognition. Last year, the show won the 2016 Centralina Council of Governments Quality of Life Award and the 2016 US Council of Mayors City Livability Award.
This year, in addition to the general call for entries, artists are invited to submit specific sculptures to be considered for the Arts and Agricultural extension show at three agricultural sites throughout Rowan County – Patterson Farms, Morgan Ridge Vineyards and a Rowan County park. Artists may submit up to three sculptures (existing or proposals) for these special locations. These site-specific submissions are in addition to any sculptures submitted to the annual Sculpture Show call for entries.

University of Nebraska Medical Center RFQ

Summary: This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) competition is open to all professional public artists or artist teams thoughout the United States. Artists from diverse backgrounds and Nebraska artists are encouraged to apply. The committee is seeking a large sculpture or installation public art project.The proposed commissioned artwork will reside in the second level common area near a large window. The location is highly visible, with sight lines from two levels in the interior and from the exterior through the window. The proposed site can house work that is approximately 15 x 15 feet maximum. The committee is seeking artists who can design, in an engaging manner, innovative, thought-provoking projects that relate to the proposed space and are aligned thematically with the missions of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Healing Arts Program.

Multiple Projects with Multi-Million Budget
Summary: Miami-Dade County and Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs through its Art in Public Places Program request qualifications from professional artists and / or artists teams to create landmark artworks for the Jackson Health System Miracle-Building Program, including: • New construction of the Jackson West Medical Center • New construction of the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial • Renovation projects at the Jackson North Medical Center • Renovation and expansion projects at the Jackson Memorial Hospital Emergency Dept. City of Chicago Northtown Branch Public Library
Summary: In a public/private partnership with the Chicago Public Library, Chicago Housing Authority, Illinois Housing Development Authority, and the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), Evergreen Real Estate Group invites professional artists to submit their qualifications for a public art commission for the new Northtown Branch Library. This commission opportunity is for a large two-dimensional or shallow relief wall mounted artwork. The Selection Panel has identified the large wall in the main entrance as the primary site for consideration. While a variety of media will be considered, the community has expressed a desire for mosaic. The community has a demonstrated interest in site-specific artwork that responds to the community’s clearly stated desire that the public art for their library be reflective of community diversity, as well as intellectual curiosity, creativity and a thirst for knowledge expressed in a visually sophisticated manner. The Selection Panel has identified the large wall (currently sized at 26 feet tall x 20 feet wide) in the main entry as primary site for consideration.

Artwork for Manhole Covers

Summary: The Ann Arbor Art Center has been chosen to manage the selection of artwork to be produced on cast iron manhole covers throughout the City of Ann Arbor. On average, 200 to 300 manhole covers are replaced each year due to planned major roadway construction and utility projects. They can otherwise last for decades. This project is part of a city initiative to infuse art into the early stages of construction project planning

CMPD Central Division Police Station
Charlotte, NC
Summary: The Arts & Science Council is accepting qualifications from artists for a public art opportunity at the upcoming CMPD Central Division Station. The selected artist will work with ASC, staff from the City of Charlotte’s Engineering and Property Management Department, ADW Architects, CMPD representatives, and local communities to create an impactful artwork that responds to the parameters of the site, the aesthetics of the architecture, and the character of Uptown Charlotte, NC. The artwork should highlight the relationship between the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and the community they serve. The selected artist will be expected to engage with both police department staff and area residents to develop the concept for their work. The CMPD Central Division Station includes a pedestrian plaza featuring a hardscaped communal space, two low, curvilinear, masonry walls, and block seating. The hardscaped plaza will be approximately 505 SF and is an excellent site for a sculpture or sculptures. Each masonry wall is approximately 4’ high, with one wall stretching 51’ long and the other is 93’-8” long. The selected artist will have the opportunity to integrate artwork into some or all of these features. The desired outcome is a seamless integration of the aesthetics of the artwork and the plaza to create a welcoming and visually engaging space.

Wyoming State Capitol Sculpture RFQ
Figurative Sculpture
Summary: The State of Wyoming is seeking four human figure based, cast bronze or carved stone sculptures, one for each niche in the Capitol Rotunda. Each sculpture should be allegorical and representative of the attributes, values, symbolism, and history of the State. The State is interested in selecting one artist or a collaborative team of artists to complete all four sculptures

BioPark Botanic Garden

Summary:
LOCATION/CONTEXT: The High Desert Rose Garden site provides an ideal location to include public art. The Main focal point for the artwork will be the entrance to the High Desert Rose Garden. This entrance space will provide the potential for an exterior mobile/hanging or recessed type (stained glass) artwork that considers the use of New Mexico’s natural light and how the work will transform the surrounding area via the interaction of light and shadows. The work will need to be structurally sound to withstand short intense wind bursts. Ultimately, the artwork should add to the experience that the visitors enjoy when visiting the High Desert Rose Garden.
PROJECT INTENT/THEME: The intent of the High Desert Rose Garden is to demonstrate that roses have a place in the southwest xeric landscape. The way the work relates to this intent, the site, and the surrounding landscape, will weigh significantly in the selection process. New Mexico is known for its open skies and natural light. Artists are encouraged to incorporate this element into the work using tradition and nontraditional ways of manipulating and incorporating the natural light.
MEDIA/STYLE/SIZE: The Art Selection Committee will consider a variety of media and styles that incorporate but not limited to: glass, stone, metal, wood or other media that integrates well with the existing architecture and the natural southwest environment of the High Desert Rose Garden. The artwork must be suitable for long-term outdoor display. Durability and minimal routine maintenance will be desirable aspects of a successful proposal. The project will support an artwork that will utilize and/or incorporate durable natural materials that will enhance the High Desert Rose Garden.
