Oldsmar Sports Complex Public Art Project

Oldsmar, Florida

Summary: The City of Oldsmar, Florida, is soliciting artists and design professionals to submit qualifications for creating and installing a permanent outdoor public art feature for the Oldsmar Sports Complex. The art feature should reflect Oldsmar’s uniqueness and have opportunity for pedestrian interaction. To capture the intent of the resident survey for an interactive art piece, it is important to define the term “interactive art”. In the context of this project, interactive art means that the art involves the spectator in a way that allows the art to achieve its purpose. That can mean letting the observer or visitor “walk” in, on or around the piece; or it may ask the spectators to become part of the artwork.

Budget: $38,000

Deadline: 8/31/22, 11:59pm Mountain

How to apply: CaFE

Eligibility Requirements: This is a National call for artists.

Special Notes: Building community is at the heart of Oldsmar, and the selected art piece should reflect that goal. To support this, Oldsmar residents were invited to have input into the type of art they would like to see for this facility via an online survey. The survey results indicated a desire for an interactive art piece. It is also the City’s desire to have a piece that is iconic and represents the unique character of Oldsmar.

All questions must be submitted in writing no later than 5:00 PM EST on Monday, August 12, 2022.
