Tampa Bay Historical Center Call for Artists Deadline 11/11/16

USCGC Tampa

Summary: a mural or bas-relief as a suitable memorial to the US Coast Guard Cutter Tampa and its crew.

The USCGC Tampa was sunk by an enemy submarine in the Bristol Channel off the coast of Wales on September 26, 1918. All one hundred thirty one officers and men aboard were lost including 24 Hillsborough County natives.

The installation must be accommodated on an approximately 23′ (wide) x 12′ (high) wall. This wall is visible from Tampa Riverwalk and the park next to the History Center.
Final installation is tentatively scheduled for Jan. 2018

Budget: $75,000.00

Deadline: Nov. 11, 2016 5pm

How to apply: entries must be submitted electronically to Publicart@Hillsboroughcounty.org (please click for specific details on application requirements. Details include what to submit, naming conventions and other requirements that if not followed will result in disqualification of your entry.)

Eligibility Requirements: no restrictions in eligibility were announced

Special Notes: the County requires that a mural be placed on metal panel, tile, or other extremely material in order to insure that the installation is as maintenance free as possible.
