Call for Artists: April 2023 Part 2

Announcing 8 Call for Artists with deadlines between April 15 and April 22, 2023. Whether you are looking for an exhibition, an art on loan program, or an opportunity for a sculpture commission, be sure to read through and find the right call for you.

The Jordan Art Walk

East Jordan, Michigan

Summary: Sculptures will be located along a route connecting the east and west sides of East Jordan, MI. on city property. he art walk is currently anchored by a city park on the west side river estuary and by the municipal harbor/concert shell on the east side. We will add 6-8 sculptures in 2023 to extend the walk.

Budget: There is a stipend of $600 for the artists selected for the exhibit.

Deadline: 4/15/23

How to apply: CaFÉ

Eligibility Requirements: Any professional or student 3D artist 18 years or older.

Special Notes: The sculptures will be in place for 3 years (June 15, 2023-June 2026) and may be for sale by the artist with a 20% commission to the committee. If sold, the work of art will remain in place until the end of the exhibit (or be replaced with another sculpture by the artist with approval of the committee)

Public Art honoring Vera Bradley Foundation in atrium of new IUSM Medical Building

Ft. Wayne, Indiana

Summary: This artwork will honor the vision and generosity of the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer (Ft. Wayne) in recognition of the organization’s $50-million dollar commitment to support breast cancer research at Indiana University, since 1999. Our vision for the art is that it will inspire HOPE in all who see it.

Budget: $175,000

Eligibility Requirements: This opportunity is open to professional artists with experience executing their ideas from concept to completion, meeting a specified budget and timeframe, working in the public realm with public agencies. Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged and welcomed to participate

Visual Arts Week Cultural Currents Art Installations

Eugene, Oregon

Summary: Cultural Currents is a new collaborative initiative that strives to strengthen multicultural hubs, programming and experiences in Eugene from Midtown to the Downtown core and into the Downtown Riverfront Park. This year’s project will manifest in temporary art installations unveiled during Visual Arts Week October 6-14, 2023 organized by the City of Eugene and Lane Arts Council. Installations will occur at the end of September. Exhibition – October 2023-September 2024: 1 year temporary public exhibition

Opportunities include 2 Exterior Sculptures. Two sculptural works will be installed on two separate 4’x 4’ plinths, The sculptures must remain within the 4’x4’ plinths for safety. If artworks are smaller, a secured exterior pedestal could be installed at the expense of the City.

Budget: $2,000 each work

Eligibility Requirements: 18+ or youth in partnership with an adult mentor and Artists who have a connection to the local community, culture, region/land, including the traditional homelands of the Kalapuya people, encompassing Eugene and the Willamette Valley

Special Notes: Consideration of connection to place and/or land from time immemorial to present, including Indigenous, Black, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Native Hawaiian, Latino/a/x/e, LGTBQIA+, current and previous residents, African diaspora, recent arrivals, immigrants and those with intersecting identities.

Old Bonnie Brae St. Sculpture

Denton, Texas

Summary: The City of Denton will receive proposals for a sculpture to be located near an intersection and alongside a trail at Old Bonnie Brae Rd. in Denton Texas near Vintage Boulevard. The project seeks a sculpture that will beautify the area and help with placemaking. The theme for the proposed artwork is “North Texas Avian Wildlife and Riparian Fauna.”

Budget: The City of Denton will entertain proposals with a proposed budget up to $25,000.

Eligibility Requirements: The call is open to all artists within the continental United States.

Rosewood Arts Center Landscape Public Art RFP

Kettering, Ohio

Summary: The City of Kettering’s CitySites Public Art Program invites artists to create a permanent outdoor artwork at Rosewood Arts Center. Created to complement or enhance the public spaces around Rosewood’s front entrance, the artwork may include new or modified hardscapes, plantings, sculptures and/or relevant design.

Budget: $45,000

Eligibility Requirements: Artists must demonstrate previous experience in creating public art, working with project teams, and creative and innovative thinking in using public space.

Special Notes: The artwork should create a welcoming environment and complement the surrounding site and facility. The artwork can operate as decorative or functional and create a significant visual component to the Rosewood environment. Possibilities include, but are not limited to: artwork integrated into the hardscape, such as sidewalk art (graphics, artwork, poetry, mosaics, etc.); free standing sculptures or sculptural installations; artistically designed landscape and/or plantings, such as tree circles, art-centric materials (natural dye plants, etc.). Projects that incorporate environmental stewardship are encouraged.

Chicago Park District & CSI / Sculpture In The Park 2023-2025 exhibition

Chicago, Illinois

Summary: Chicago Sculpture International, in collaboration with the Chicago Park District and parks in the surrounding Chicago area, is seeking proposals from artists for the 2023-2025 Sculpture in the Parks Exhibition.

Works must be large scale and suitable for outdoors. They will be installed on hardscape or softscape (grass), so artists must be prepared for either type of installation. Only select sites have concrete pads; all other sites are softscapes. Sculptures will be on view for two years, from October 2023 to October 2025 (exact dates to be determined).

Budget: Each sculpture will receive a $3000 stipend.

Eligibility Requirements: This RFP is open to professional artists or artist teams 18 years of age or older. Artists whose proposals are accepted, if they are not already CSI members, will be asked to join.

Special Notes: exhibitors must have Commercial General Liability Insurance (Primary and Umbrella) on an occurrence basis with limits not less than $1,000,000 single limit per occurrence and $2,000,000 in the aggregate for bodily injury, personal injury and property damage.

Call for Sculpture Artists! CRE8IV

Rockford, Illinois

Summary: The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (RACVB) works to encourage and enhance cultural life and public art in the Rockford, Illinois region through facilitation, recognition, and financial support of public art. The organization’s Forest City Beautiful initiative includes a Sculpture Biennial consisting of a two-year installation of sculptors’ work.

Budget: honorarium of $2,000-$4,000, dependent on size/height/scope of installed selection

Art on the River 2023-24

Dubuque, Iowa

Summary: The City of Dubuque, Iowa is now soliciting sculpture proposals for its 17th Art on the River public art sculpture exhibit, to be held along the Mississippi Riverwalk in the Port of Dubuque from August 2023 through July 2024. Up to eleven sculptural works will be selected for the exhibition.

Budget: Selected artists receive a $1,800 stipend for each work included in the exhibition. Additional cash prizes of $1,000 for Best in Show and $200 for People’s Choice are also available. Artworks are encouraged to be for sale as special efforts are made to promote purchasing throughout the year.
