City of Dallas Public Art Pre-Qualified Artist List

Dallas, Texas

Summary: The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture seeks emerging and established visual artists for its 2022 Pre-Qualified Artist list. Applications are open to artists, artist teams, and collectives working in studio-based media. Selected applicants are eligible for participation in various city led projects, and may be contracted to design, fabricate, and install public art commissioned by the city. Artwork sites include city properties such as libraries, fire stations, recreation centers, parks, sidewalks, and more.

Artists will be selected based on history of past work, community engagement, and ability to collaborate with the OAC employees and project liaisons. A selection panel will convene to screen all eligible applications, which will then be reviewed by the Dallas Public Art Commission.

Southside Community Center Public Art- RFQ

Jacksonville, Florida

Summary: The Beach and Peach Urban Park is a 68-acre nature preserve including bike trails, a 5-acre pond, and a newly built 6600 sf. Community Center.

The Community Center is seeking an outdoor sculpture that engages and accents the surrounding landscape and environment.  The sculpture can be representational or abstract, and should be inspired by the textures and aesthetics of the flora and fauna of Duval County and/or the natural life cycle as well as the coastal/river/pond theming represented in the community center’s interior design.

There are four (4) possible location options for this sculpture.  

Budget: $32,000

Eligibility Requirements: The project is open to artists over 21-year-old, who are not students in a formal degree program, and who have been practicing artists for more than three (3) years. Artist is defined broadly to include the traditional arts and the design arts.

ArtSS in the Open 2022

Sandy Springs, Georgia

Summary: This public sculpture competition was created to bring fine art to the parks and public spaces throughout the city of Sandy Springs, the second largest city in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Nine sculptures will be prominently displayed around the four-acre green at City Springs, the City’s town center. One or more sculptures from each competition will be purchased by the City to be permanently placed in public locations around Sandy Springs.

Budget: $1,500 to each of nine selected artists

Washington St. Underpass Public Art Project

San Juan Bautista, California

Summary: The San Benito County Arts Council, together with Caltrans and the City of San Juan Bautista, is administering a Call for Artists and/or Artist Team to submit their qualifications to create and install a mural on the exterior façade and interior vertical walls of the underpass (see Site Plan-Figures 1, 2, and 3), as well as 2D or 3D site-specific elements, integrated with the theme and style of the mural, to be incorporated into concrete slope paving areas which will be installed beneath the underpass (see Site Plan-Figures 4 and 5). Powers Road & Brookswood Boulevard Roundabout

Bend, Oregon

Summary: The overall size of the roundabout is 3,200 sq. ft. with the largest land for sculpture footings on the eastern edge of the roundabout (560 sq. ft.) as well as two areas on the western edge (144 sq. ft. and 261 sq. ft) and one area in the southwest section (100 sq. ft.) of the roundabout. The width of the truck apron varies from 11 to 16 ft. wide. There is a water main running north/south through the center of the roundabout and it should be noted that the sculpture footings cannot span across the utility mainline. Overall footings must be 5 ft. away from all underground utilities.

Eligibility Requirements: Open to Artists and Artist Teams residing in the Northwest and Southwest United States, specifically Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Women, LGBTQAI+ community members are highly encouraged to apply. Artists living in Oregon are highly encouraged to apply.

Special Notes: The total project budget for this commission is $130,000, including City of Bend permit fees, stamped engineering drawings, subcontractors, footings/excavation, delivery, insurance, travel, restorative landscaping, installation and a traffic mitigation plan (signage and flaggers) as per the City permit requirements. Only Finalists will submit an itemized budget for the proposed project.

Empire Avenue & Butler Market Road & 27th Street Roundabout

Bend, Oregon

Summary: The overall size of the roundabout is 4,250 sq. ft. with available land for sculpture footings focused on the northern edge of the roundabout (the larger area is 430 sq. ft. along with a long narrow strip at 182 sq. ft.) as well as two areas on the west (95 sq. ft.) and east side (246 sq. ft.) of the roundabout. The width of the truck apron is 15 ft. wide There is a drainage area in the middle of the roundabout which cannot have any deep foundations (less than 2 ft). Overall footings must be 5 ft. away from all underground utilities.

Public Art Archive Anniversary Map Remix Project

Nationwide – USA

Summary: The original Have You Seen My Public Art? map was created in 2013 by artist Kenny Be as a campaign to encourage submissions for inclusion in the Public Art Archive in the earlier stages of the program’s inception. The second edition of the map will be created by artist Kara Fellows, using newly submitted public art imagery as an opportunity to increase visibility of a diverse range of public art across the United States and US territories. The map will be distributed widely via digital networks and used in occasional collateral material (including postcards and posters). All artwork submissions will be juried for inclusion in the map, and all artworks submitted, whether selected or not, will be added to the Public Art Archive repository to increase access to information about public art throughout the world.

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to all artists and organizations that are the creators, commissioners, and/or owners of public artworks that have been created within the last ten years (2012-2022). Artworks are considered ‘public art’ if they are in a place accessible or visible to the public without an entrance fee.

Special Notes: IMPORTANT: If you have previously submitted public artworks to the Public Art Archive that you would like to submit for consideration to the anniversary map, be sure to provide the URL of the artwork on the Public Art Archive in your application.
