2 Art Projects to Support Fire Station
Summary: Anchorage, Alaska, Fire Station 9, Huffman Location is requesting qualifications for 2 separate public art items. (1) a functional table 12’ long and 4’ wide and (2) Glass Artwork on the exterior entry door
Budget: The table commission will be $20,000 and the glass commission will be $24,000.

Special Notes:
Fire Station 9 is a specialty team in high angle rope rescue. Their values are integrity, honesty, courage to act, duty to serve, and vigilance. Community involvement and service to the community are important tenants to the Fire Station. The Art Selection Jury has discussed themes, and is primarily interested in artwork that reflects the Alaska landscape and environment. The jury discussed the following as potential themes to consider: Alaska Back Country, High Angle Rope Rescue, Turnagain Arm, Mountainous Terrain, Water, Mountainous Urban Area, Cook Inlet, Knik Arm, Anchorage Landscape, and Wilderness. The jury would consider submissions including the number 9, but this is not required. The selection committee has no preference on the style of the design.
