Call for Artists: 9 for March 9

Following are 9 call for artists that all have deadlines of Monday, March 9. You don’t need to have specific proposals, so don’t let the deadline scare you if this is the right sculpture opportunity for you.

This is a mix of calls with commissions available for sculptors in Canada, and the US.


Bicentennial Park, Call for Sculpture

Reno, NV

Summary: The City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission, in collaboration with The Reno Downtown Rotary, is seeking sculpture for purchase and installation in Bicentennial Park, immediately east of Ralston Street between First Street and the Truckee River, in downtown Reno.

Goals of this project include: transforming a park into a home for a permanent sculpture exhibition; increase public awareness of art; broaden viewers’ perspectives of public spaces within the City, and foster a sense of place in a highly visible area along the Truckee River

Budget: The total budget for this project is $40,000. There are two (2) available sculpture pads. The budget is for 2 pieces of art, not necessarily from the same artist.

Valley Line West – 87 Avenue Guideway Ramps at 164 Street and Aldergrove Park

Edmonton, Canada

Summary: The Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Program on behalf of the City of Edmonton is seeking two artists or artist teams to create low relief integrated concrete designs for the north and south side of each of the 87 Avenue Elevated Guideway Ramps: the first two-sided ramp at 164 Street and the second two-sided ramp at Aldergrove Park

Budget: 2 $15,000 commissions

Valley Line West – Misericordia Station, Canada

Edmonton, Canada

Summary: The Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Program on behalf of the City of Edmonton is seeking an artist or artist team to integrate site-specific public art at the Misericordia Transit Station at 169 Street and 87 Avenue. Artwork locations for this project include location #1, and at least one option in location #2. These locations provide significant and highly visible public art installation opportunities. The letter of intent must include location #1 and at least one option in location #2

Budget: $325,000

Edmonton, Canada

Summary: The Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Program on behalf of the City of Edmonton is seeking an artist or artist team to integrate site-specific public art at the West Edmonton Mall Station at 175 Street and 87 Avenue. The selected artist may choose one or more of the four available artwork locations. These locations provide significant and highly visible public art installation opportunities.

Budget: $250,000

Denver Health Main Campus Plaza Public Art Project

Denver, Colorado

Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission a Colorado artist or team of artists to create an original, site-specific outdoor public artwork for the Denver Health Main Campus Plaza

Budget: $300,000

Deadline: 3/9/20 11:59 p.m. Mountain

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to artists who currently live and work in in the state of Colorado

Special Notes: The selection panel is interested in artists who can demonstrate an understanding of the area’s functionality, history, surrounding neighborhoods, and mission and vision of Denver Health. Emerging artists are encouraged to apply. The budget for this project is $300,000, however, the panel reserves the right to divide the budget if more than one artist is selected to implement a project.

Harris Building Exterior Art

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Summary: The Linn County Public Art Commission is seeking qualifications from artists for exterior artwork to be incorporated into the Dr. Percy and Lileah Harris Building in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Budget: $145,000

Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Summary: The Linn County Public Art Commission is seeking qualifications from artists for interior artwork to be incorporated into the Dr. Percy and Lileah Harris Building in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Budget: $50,000

Deadline: 3/9/20

Eligibility Requirements: This Request for Qualifications is open to all professional artists and artist teams.  Only the first 250 applications received will be accepted.

Special Notes: Up to three finalists will be selected to develop concept proposals for this project.  Each will be paid a $250 proposal fee.

Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center Public Art Project

Denver, Colorado

Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original, site-specific, outdoor public artwork for the new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center which is slated to open in the summer of 2020.

Budget: $485,000

Deadline: Monday, March 9, 2020 11:59 p.m.

Broadway Boulevard Streetscape Public Art Project

Denver, Colorado

Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create a series of original, pedestrian-scaled works of art for the future improved Broadway Boulevard streetscape in Denver. The improved corridor boundaries and locations for artworks will run from 7th Avenue, south to Center Avenue. along the Broadway Boulevard corridor. The selection panel has recommended an integrated project along the public right-of-way.

Budget: $100,000

Special Notes: The selection panel is interested in artists who can demonstrate an understanding of the area’s history, surrounding neighborhoods and small business community. Emerging artists, Colorado-based artists and artists working in media that is pedestrian-scaled and suitable for outdoor display are especially encouraged to apply.
