Downtown Conference Center

Odessa, TX

Summary: Odessa Arts invites professional artists or artist teams to submit qualifications to design and fabricate a significant piece to enhance the entrance to the new downtown hotel and convention center on Fifth Street.

Budget: $150,000

Deadline: 1/01/2018 5:00 PM Central Time (yep, that’s what they are saying, Monday, New Year’s Eve Day!)

Eligibility Requirements: This commission is open to all professional artists or artist teams with experience in similar such projects. All media will be considered.

Special Notes: This piece will be in addition to Odessa’s public art collection, which includes works by Amy Cheng, Pam Edwards, Joe Barrington, Matt Plummer, and the forthcoming ‘Odessa Spire,’ by Ray King.

The piece will be situated at the entrance to the Marriott hotel on Fifth Street in Downtown Odessa, adjacent to the Conference Center and the refurbished Ector Theater.

The College of New Jersey Travers Wolfe Hall

Ewing, New Jersey

Summary: The artist will work with the College and the architect to define a location and any infrastructure needs for the artwork in and around the Travers-Wolfe Hall project site. There is no preferred art medium but the artwork is envisioned to be located outside in a public venue. Possible site locations for the artwork include the roofline/façade of the connector/entrance building, the entrance plaza, the lower courtyard, and/or the tower facades. Preliminary building and site design drawings will be provided to shortlisted artists.

Budget: $235,000; Three finalists each will receive $2,000 to help cover travel and interview preparation expenses.

Port Everglades Palm Garage

Port Everglades, Broward County, Florida

Summary: In partnership with Port Everglades, Broward County, Florida, Broward Cultural Division’s Public Art & Design Program is seeking to commission one artist or artist team (Artist) to design fabricate and install artwork at the new Port Everglades Palm Garage located at the intersection of Eisenhower Boulevard and SW 20th Street, Fort Lauderdale. Opportunities exist on the building’s exterior facade. Additional opportunities may be identified in collaboration with the design team.

The artwork’s design shall contribute to the Port’s visual branding theme of the Everglades and resolve to establish an artistic sense of place for Port Everglades visitors.

Budget: $320,000

Eligibility Requirements: This Call to Artists is open to professional artists eighteen years of age or older, residing in the United States who have not been previously selected for a Broward County project in the past 10 years, and have demonstrated experience
managing projects with a budget of $25,000 or more, and coordinating project installations with construction project managers, and related contractors, engineers and architects, as needed, based on the project scope of work. Only applicants who can work in collaboration with the project’s design team, as applicable, shall apply for this project.

Special Notes: A variety of media may be considered for this project. The artwork could be sculptural in nature and may be of a monumental scale. An Artist Information Meeting will be scheduled by the County for the shortlisted Artists to discuss possible artwork opportunities in consultation with Port Everglades’ staff. The shortlisted Artists will receive additional information about the project including maps, photos, and architectural drawings of the Palm Garage’s approved design.  Primary artwork opportunities may be located on the five-story exterior facade that visually and physically connects the north and west elevations of the building. Shortlisted Artists shall coordinate proposed artwork(s) location(s), with major architectural or engineering interface, such as any structural support, proposed anchoring methods, building configuration modification, if applicable, electrical service such as power or lighting, with the Palm Garage Design Team. The artwork must comply with various security and operational requirements inherent with port’s facilities and parking garages.

Seffner Mango Community Park Public Art Project

Hillsborough County, FL

Summary: Hillsborough County (County) is interested in receiving submissions from artists demonstrating their ability to provide completely realized artworks dealing with topography. The community wishes to tie their park to both spirituality and science through a work which promotes gathering and awareness of the passage of time. Portions of the work may promote community and youth involvement through an annual painting program. The piece should require very low maintenance and the minimal use of plantings to achieve the artist’s intent. The 25 A. site currently includes a 14,000 S.F. library, community garden, and walking trail. The selected artist(s) will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of the permanent artwork.

Budget: $85,000

The Haddonfield Outdoor Sculpture Trust

Art on Loan, Haddonfield, NJ

Summary: The Haddonfield Outdoor Sculpture Trust (HOST) established in 2014 is now accepting submissions of existing outdoor art works for the 2018 Art Loan Display. Haddonfield, NJ, a Historic town 6 miles East of Philadelphia, is realizing its goal of becoming the premier outdoor sculpture venue in Southern New Jersey.

Budget: an honorarium of $500 plus installation

Summary: The Art Selection Committee is recommending the placement of a site-specific artwork for the exterior of the newly renovated facility. Artwork should celebrate the renaming of this 30-year old facility as the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center

Budget: $20,000-25,000

Deadline: January 8, 11:59 p.m. MST

Water Reclamation Facility Project

Fort Collins, CO

Summary: The City of Fort Collins, Colorado, Art in Public Places Program (APP) is seeking submissions to select an artist/artist team to develop art concepts for the Water Reclamation Facility project.

Budget: $50,000

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to artists/artist teams within a 150-mile radius of Fort Collins, Colorado, who are legally residing in and authorized to work in the United States.

Special Notes: The Drake Water Reclamation Facility is located at 3036 East Drake Road, near the Environmental Learning Center and Poudre River Trail. The City of Fort Collins water reclamation facilities use an array of physical, biological, and chemical processes to treat wastewater. This facility hosts many school tours of the reclamation plant. Adding art to the facility is an opportunity to educate the community about the purpose of the facility and the process of water reclamation

State of the Art Gallery 2018–art on loan

Santa Barbara, CA

Join us on Tuesday, January 9 from 5-6 p.m. at the Community Arts Workshop in Santa Barbara to learn more about the Call for Artists.

Summary: The Santa Barbara County Office of Arts and Culture invites artists to submit proposals for a new exhibition of sculpture on State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara. The sculptures will be mounted on eight designated installation “pads” located on the State Street Corridor and anchored to the sidewalk below. The upcoming exhibition will feature sculpture by local artists from March – May 2018. This collaboration is supported by the City of Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Community Arts Workshop, Santa Barbara Beautiful, and the Downtown Organization: a map of the sculpture pad locations can be found below.

Budget: selected artists will receive an honorarium of $750 per sculpture/ per pad for the term of the art loan

Deadline: submission deadline is now extended until January 15, 2018, 5 pm Pacific Time

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to all professional artists and/or collaborative artist teams at least 18 years of age, working or residing in Santa Barbara County.

Special Notes: Work needs to be appropriate for an outdoor location and able to accommodate pedestrian foot traffic. Artists do not need to create new sculpture for this project and can choose to submit or loan existing work for the exhibition. Artists may submit multiple sculptures for consideration and multiple sculptures may be selected from the same artist
