Dec. 14, 2022: 4 additional opportunities for sculptors have been added for the 2nd half of December call for artists.
We finish the year with 19 call for artists with deadlines Dec. 16-31, 2022. These are exciting opportunities for sculptors across the country. Let 2023 be the year you land a special commission.

Troy Main Street’s Sculptures on the Square 2023: Wind and Water
Troy, Ohio
Summary: As part of Troy Main Street’s 2023 Sculptures on the Square event, we are inviting artists to submit letters of interest, sculpture details, and qualifications for outdoor sculpture artwork. The theme of “Wind and Water” has been selected for the 2023 event. Sculptors are welcome to freely interpret the theme of wind, water, and wind and water in their submissions. Proposals do not have to meet the theme, but sculptures fitting the theme are encouraged.
The 2023 Sculptures on the Square event, scheduled to be exhibited June 16 – October 1, 2023, is expected to display up to 25 sculptures on the sidewalks of downtown Troy.
Budget: stipend $1,500 USD

Pre-Qualified Artist Roster for City Parks
Phoenix, Arizona
Summary: The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture requests qualifications from professional artists working in a variety of media and artistic approaches for its Pre-Qualified Artist Roster. Artists selected for this Roster will be eligible for several park projects over the next two years. POAC seeks artists whose work advances the public’s understanding of contemporary art, enhances the aesthetic quality and user experience of civic spaces, and demonstrates collaboration with communities.
Budget: The range of artwork budgets anticipated for these projects varies from $100,000 to $500,000. Final project budgets will be dependent upon approved concept designs developed collaboratively with the respective design teams. All budgets must include, but are not limited to, artist design fees, research and community engagement, insurance, material samples/mockups, engineering, construction documents, fabrication, installation, and travel (if necessary). The design portion of the artwork budget for each project must not exceed $75,000.

Great Streets—Main Street Project
Burlington, Vermont
Summary: Burlington City Arts is issuing a request for qualifications from artists or artist teams for public art works to be incorporated into the Great Streets Initiative–Main Street Project in downtown Burlington, VT. Selected public art works will reflect the diversity of Burlington’s residents, explore the City’s history, create meaningful landmarks in our built environment, and connect the people, the land and the lake.
Budget: The proposed budget for all public art works commissioned for the Main Street Project is up to $500,000, to include artist honorariums for proposals and all fees associated with design, fabrication, and transportation of final selected public art works. Each artist/artist team still in consideration after the first selection phase will receive a $1000 honorarium to develop a final proposal. To meet the design goals for the 6 blocks, multiple public art works of varying budgets, scale, and scope will be selected; a single work for the full budget will not be considered.

2023 DeLand Sculpture Walk

Summary: Several works will be selected for installation throughout downtown DeLand, Florida 3/1/23 – 3/1/25
Budget: Each finalist whose work is installed will receive a $2500.00 honorarium to offset transportation and incidental expenses.

2022 Art in the Heart
Farmington, New Mexico
Summary: The mission of the Art in the Heart of Farmington, NM is to promote sculpture as a public art form that enhances Downtown Farmington and promotes artists from the four states of New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah. Up to 10 sculptures will be chosen by a juror to be displayed for up to one year.
Budget: artists will receive a minimum of a $500 honorarium and travel expenses based on distance traveled. In addition, they will receive lodging for two nights on May 19 & 20th and are invited to attend an artist’s reception at the Navajo Museum of Arts & Culture in Farmington, New Mexico.

Pedestrian Plaza Welcoming Art
Mountlake Terrace, Washington
Summary: The City of Mountlake Terrace, Washington invites Regional/Pacific Northwest artists to submit letters of interest (LOI) or audio/video statements of interests (VASOI) and Statements of Qualifications (SOQ), along with a resume and project renderings/examples of work from qualified individuals (or teams) interested in working with the Arts Advisory Commission, City Staff, and landscape architect OTAK related to the commissioning of public art.
The City of Mountlake Terrace will commission one artist or team of artists to design, fabricate and install an artwork or artworks in the center of the Pedestrian Plaza (future naming process will be undertaken for the new park) located at the corner of southwest corner of 236th Street SW and VanRy Blvd (adjacent to future light rail station).
Once selected by the City, an artist or team of artists may propose a single installation or a series. The successful artist or team of artists will work with the City and OTAK on the development and installation of the art piece. Artworks will be maintained and owned by the City of Mountlake Terrace.
Budget: The selected artist/team of artists will receive a commission of $96,000 to design, fabricate and install the artwork. Up to $4,000 total will be shared and available to pay stipends for selected finalists to participate and prepare/submit proposals for Part 2 of the Call for Artists process. The overall project budget is all inclusive of travel expenses, Washington State Sales/Use Tax and other project costs.

The City of Mountlake Terrace is seeking Regional/Pacific Northwest artists within the United States. The City encourages diversity of styles and materials in its collection. Artists whose work is well represented in the city’s collection are eligible to apply, but the City will consider artistic diversity as one factor in the selection process.

McKay Bay Transfer Station
Tampa, Florida
Summary: The proposed location for the artwork is the western exterior façade of a newly constructed wall providing an area of approximately 143’ x 48’ for a commissioned artwork. Artists whose work builds public awareness about environmental issues are encouraged to apply. The artist for this project is expected to manage all aspects of design, fabrication, installation, budget, and work with city staff and architectural plans for the site.

Fanny Williams Legacy Project
Smyrna, Georgia
Summary: The City of Smyrna, Mayor Derek Norton, City Council, and the Committee to Honor Fanny Williams (Committee) are seeking an artist, designer, architect, or team to design an inviting and contemplative spatial, sculptural and/or experiential project to honor and celebrate the life and contributions of Fanny Williams in a public park space. Inspiration for the project should come from the Committee’s Mission Statement and her life story.
Budget: $125,000

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to professional public artists, designers, architects, or artist teams, over the age of 18, who can demonstrate their ability to execute a public project of this scale and budget.
Special Notes: Mission Statement: “We celebrate Fanny Williams as an African American woman, for her legacy of activism, economic sustainability, social justice that gave agency to people who did not have a voice, and her lasting impact on our community.”
The panel will evaluate all qualifications and may recommend up to five finalists to develop and present their concept designs in person with the review panel and Committee. Finalists will receive an honorarium of $1,500 to prepare materials for these presentations.
Dougherty Arts Center

Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places program (AIPP) of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department is seeking up to three emerging artists to design, fabricate and install artworks ($44,000 each) for the new Dougherty Arts Center (DAC) located between Toomey and Riverside Roads along Lamar Blvd behind the Zach Scott Theatre in Austin, Texas.
Budget: $44,000 – Three Distinct Project Opportunities for emerging artists ($132,000 total)

Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places program (AIPP) of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department (EDD) seeks to commission professional visual artists or artist teams, to design and fabricate artworks for the Montopolis Neighborhood Park Pool at 1200 Montopolis Dr, Austin, TX 78741 and Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park Pool at 7000 Ardath St, Austin, TX 78757.

3 Austin Fire Department/Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services Stations

Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department seeks to commission three artists or artist teams for three opportunities to create permanent public artwork for facilities related to fire and emergency medical services.
Each site shares in common an interest for artwork that integrates with the site, the interior or exterior architecture of the respective stations. The artists or artist teams selected for these projects will spend time observing and researching the work of Austin’s first responders.

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport: C Concourse Expansion Project – Lookout Deck Sculpture (RFQ)

Summary: The Port of Seattle’s Public Art program is seeking glass and multi-disciplinary visual artists or artist teams to submit their qualifications to be considered for an art commission within Seattle Tacoma International Airport. The lookout deck area is located on the mezzanine level of the C Concourse and will be fully accessible to passengers and will serve as a real centerpiece of the space. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport: C Concourse Expansion Project – Restroom Wall (RFQ)

Summary: The Port of Seattle’s Public Art program is seeking glass and multi-disciplinary visual artist or artists team to submit their qualifications to be considered for this permanent art commission within Seattle Tacoma International Airport. The restroom wall art is intended to be a visual cue for the restrooms as well as the adjacent nursing suites. The restroom wall art will be a highly visible piece for both the people going to the restroom but also for the people waiting to use the elevators. The space will have downlighting which will be integrated into the ceiling in the form of series of downlights along the length of the wall.

Summary: The City of Durham’s Cultural and Public Art Program commissions a variety of public artworks in collaboration with City departments and other organizations engaged in capital development projects across Durham, North Carolina. The City of Durham’s Cultural and Public Art Program defines public art as original visual art including, but not limited to, sculptures, murals, photographic renderings, mosaics, and electronic art installations.
The City of Durham’s Pre-Qualified Artist Registry will be used to select artists when a project’s requirements render it suitable. Selection will be based on the appropriateness of the artist’s medium and experience relevant to specific project requirements. Happy Valley Veterans Memorial

Summary: The City of Happy Valley has pledged to create a welcoming transition for returning veterans and their families. Advancing this commitment, the City seeks to acquire a permanent, larger-scale sculpture that depicts the theme of “A Soldier’s Journey”. Artwork placement will help to facilitate meaningful spaces to experience grief, healing, remembrance, and celebration.
Budget: $56,300: The maximum total budget for sculpture acquisition is $50,000. In addition to the artwork budget, the City will pay up to $6,300 to construct a sculpture display pad, provide professional art installation, and interpretative signage.

Summary: 11th annual Palestine ArtTracks Sculpture Show, up to 10 artists are selected each year for a 2 year placement. Summary: The Calvin T. Ryan Library is an essential hub of the campus and the Library interacts with every other department on campus in some way. It is a space that strives for accessibility or democratization of education. The Library is a place to exchange and gain information and academic resources; a place to interact with knowledge, various collections of books, and study groups. It also houses several University departments and programs, including the UNK Learning Commons and the Honor’s Program.
There are three site options for the Library. Each submitting artist should review the sites and note which site they prefer in the artist’s statement. Only one artist will be selected for the full budget listed, and will receive the full budget for the site they select.

Summary: LeBasse Projects and Huntington Health are commissioning artists for three separate installations at the new campus. The aim for all three artwork opportunities is to create world-class public artwork in a diverse range of mediums that are designed to engage the community, align with HH mission of ‘compassionate community care’, showcase the cultural diversity of the City and enhance the various civic and public spaces.
