Early February Call for Artists

Today we announce 16 call for artists with deadlines February 1-15, 2022. One is a pre-qual list, which means there are even more than 16 opportunities for sculptors! Whether you are looking for an exhibition, an art on loan program, or an opportunity for a sculpture commission, be sure to read through and find the right call for you–including a stone carving symposium in Norway for our artists who are carvers.

TAAP 3D Sculpture On Loan Program
Loveland Colorado
Summary: The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks outdoor sculpture to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP). Sculptors are encouraged to be a part of this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from May 2022-May 2023. The installed artwork may be available for sale.
Budget: Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $2,000.

Hopkins ArtStreet 22-23
Hopkins, Minnesota
Summary: Hopkins ArtStreet is a select, juried public art display centered on charming, historic Mainstreet in Hopkins, MN (15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis). Artists working in all outdoor-tolerant media are invited to apply. Accepted artwork is displayed for approximately one year (May to May).
Budget: Selected artists will receive a stipend of $1000 to offset the cost of transportation of their artwork and any other incurred travel/hotel expenses. Artists must be present at the installation of their work.

Public Artist-In-Residence Program
Fort Collins, Colorado
Summary: The City of Fort Collins, Colorado, Art in Public Places Program (APP) along with the City of Fort Collins Utilities Department are seeking proposals from artists/artist teams for the City’s inaugural Public Artist-in-Residence program. We believe that artists offer unique, innovative, and powerful perspectives on telling the story of our Utilities Department. The intent of this program is to create a 12-month residency in which an artist/artist team collaborates with the City of Fort Collins Utilities Department to help communicate the departmental mission and the vital yet often overlooked essential services the Utilities Department performs 24/7, 365 days a year.
Budget: $50,000

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to Colorado artists/artist teams residing within 75 miles of the City of Fort Collins, who are at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States. Artist/artist teams must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with the Utilities Department Project Team to further develop their initial proposal into a final proposal.

2022 Bonnaroo Call for Artists at Nashville International Airport
Nashville, Tennessee
Summary: The Bonnaroo Works Fund in partnership with Arts at the Airport, are seeking proposals for 4 temporary public artwork Bonnaroo-themed displays at BNA, in Nashville, Tennessee. The display, which will be suspended from the ceiling June 6, 2022– April 9, 2023, encompasses 4 skylights located in the airport concourses on the secure side of the terminal.
Budget: Each selected artist will receive an honorarium of $4,500 and 2 General Admission Weekend Passes + 1 Car Camping Pass to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

2022 Art on Parade
Northglenn, Colorado
Summary: Northglenn Arts is conducting an open entry competition to select six sculptures ─ valued at no more than $32,500 each ─ to be part of Northglenn’s “Art on Parade” on-loan sculpture program. The selected pieces will be installed for a period of one year at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park surrounding Webster Lake in Northglenn, Colorado.
Northglenn Arts is committed to community representation through the support of diverse public art. Whether through subject matter, the identity of the artist or the story they are telling, Northglenn Arts will view all submissions through the lens of diversity, inclusion and social equity.
Budget: Each of the six finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium to help offset their expenses. In addition, $1,000 will be awarded to the artist who is the recipient of the annual “People’s Choice Award.”

2022 Art Around Town
Carbondale, Colorado
Summary: All sculptures will be placed on random sized blocks of Colorado Yule Marble. Each piece of marble has a custom steel plate adhered to the top of the marble. Sculptures will be tack welded to the steel plate on top of the marble, so it is imperative that every sculpture arrive for installation with a steel plate attached to the bottom of the sculpture. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made for installation.
Budget: Selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium at the installation of the sculpture in May.

24th Annual Art on the Streets
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Summary: Art on the Streets celebrates the power of art in public places, turning the streets of Downtown Colorado Springs into a yearlong outdoor gallery of sculpture, mural, performance and installation works. More than 300 works have been exhibited Downtown since AOTS began in 1998, and the district is home to more than 50 permanent works, over 40 of which have been purchased through AOTS.
Budget: Honorarium $2,000 per artist, Complimentary lodging during installation of work and on evening of exhibit opening reception, up to $16,000 in prizes, and $2,000 ‘opportunity grants’

20th Anniversary Call to Artists for Prequalified Artist List
Fort Worth, Texas
Summary: The Fort Worth Public Art Program seeks emerging and established public artists working in a variety of visual media and artistic approaches, offering regional artists the opportunity to highlight their previous work in public space including murals, digital, cultural, and studio-based media for its 2022 Pre-Qualified Artist List. Selected artists, collectives, or creator-teams from the registry may be contacted to design and fabricate potential public artworks and are eligible for projects of various scopes, timelines, and budgets throughout the City.

Special Notes: As part of the Fort Worth Public Art Master Plan Update, it is the goal of FWPA to provide local artists with opportunities to create works of public art. Therefore, FWPA has established two separate categories within the 2022 Pre-Qualified List based upon artists’ residency and experience level. Each list has a separate application process and will be reviewed by the panel independently.

University of Louisiana Monroe
Monroe, LA
Summary: The sculptural artwork will face Northeast Drive and be located between Sandel Hall and the new Hub Student Union Building (currently under construction). Sandel Hall is home to ULM’s Office of Admissions and all prospective students begin their campus tours at Sandel Hall.
As such, this artwork should inspire prospective students as they begin their higher education journey. This sculpture will represent the life-changing and transformative impact of higher education. It should embody hope, growth, and transformation for the region of northeast Louisiana.

Art Opportunity at the New North Belt Safety Complex
Houston, Texas
Summary: The Civic Art Program of the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) requests the submission of qualifications from artists or artist-teams to design, fabricate, and install major permanent works of public art for the new North Belt Public Safety Complex. Commissioned works will be accessioned into the City of Houston’s Art Collection.

UW-Stevens Point Native American memorial project
Stevens Point, Wisconsin
Summary: The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point seeks proposals from artists for a project that will use original outdoor public art or an artistic memorial marker to recognize and honor Native American tribes. Accepted artwork may include a large-scale mural, sculpture, memorial monument or multiple media piece that could include wood, stone, metal and paint for outdoor display.
Budget: The selected artist will receive a $5,000 honorarium for artwork designs, and fabrication and installation of the work can total up to $25,000

Waco Regional Airport Ceiling-Mounted Sculpture
Waco, Texas
Summary: Artist and artist teams are invited to submit proposals for the design and installation of public art at the Waco Regional Airport in Waco, Texas. Creative Waco, in partnership with the City of Waco, is seeking an artist or artist team to create a ceiling-mounted sculpture in the airport’s main concourse. The selected artist or artist team will enter into an agreement with Creative Waco for the completion of the project. The artwork must comply with airport rules, regulations and policies. The space available includes a footprint of 53’ 5” long x 30’ wide x 6’ 3” deep. Ceiling height is 18’, and minimum floor clearance above finish floor is 11’ 9”. All aspects of the artwork must remain within this footprint.

Waco Regional Airport Wall-Mounted Relief Sculpture
Waco, Texas
Summary: Artist and artist teams are invited to submit proposals for the design and installation of public art at the Waco Regional Airport in Waco, Texas. Creative Waco, in partnership with the City of Waco, is seeking an artist or artist team to create a relief wall sculpture in the airport representing life-sized Columbian mammoth(s). The selected artist or artist team will enter into an agreement with Creative Waco for the completion of the project. The artwork must comply with airport rules, regulations and policies. The area of wall available for artwork is approximately 16’8” wide by 16’4” high by 4” deep. All aspects of the artwork must remain within this footprint. The artwork may not exceed a weight of 15 lbs per square foot.

Request for Qualifications- Fogarty School of Nursing at Rhode Island College
Providence, Rhode Island
Summary: The RI State Council on the Arts and Rhode Island College will commission artwork for the Zvart Onanian School of Nursing wing in the entrance lobby or exterior sites adjacent to the building. Interior works could be 3-D, freestanding, wall-mounted or ceiling hung, among the possibilities. The artwork could reinforce stated goals of the building to increase collaborative space and sense of community, or reflect the goals and values of RIC’s public art master plan.

International Larvikite Sculpture Symposium Norge
Tjodalyng/Larvik, Norway
Summary: Since 1985, international stone sculptors have been invited every two years to the quarry of Tjodalyng/Larvik in southern Norway, to work sculptural with the local blue-crystalline larvikite. The content of the symposium is based on the original stone sculptor symposia of the 1960s and follows the tradition of offering artists the freedom to work collectively and away from studio- and commercial requirements. The artist comes to the stone and encounters industry, nature and new artistic challenges. After a 3-year break, the Symposium Norge invites you to an international Larvikite symposium in cooperation with the stone industry in Larvik.
We are inviting up to 12 international stone sculptors to our next Symposium`22 (6th June-23 July 2022) with a focus on individual artistic positions, the opportunity for dialogue and communal living and working.
Living and working at the same place and at the origin of the stone. Since 1990, the Symposium House has served the sculptors from all over the world as a meeting place and as accommodation during the symposium. It is located directly at the foot of Lundhs Stålaker quarry and offers short distances to the workplace, as well as a central location between the cities of Larvik and Sandefjord, in the municipality of Vestfold / Norway.
Budget: The operator of the Symposium Norge, Lundhs AS, is in possession of Larvikite quarries in different colors and lets the artists choose their stones from these natural resources. In addition, the participants receive a work and travel grant (1500,- EUR) and accommodation in the Symposium House. A workplace with electricity, air and various tools is provided at the quarry site.
