Hot August Call for Artists!

Announcing 4 calls which have deadlines throughout August. This is earlier than normal for us to post calls, but we figured, we got ’em, so let’s share ’em!

Then be sure to look at our earlier calls, because as this is being published there are still opportunities for sculptors who can get their ducks in a row in June, July, and the 2nd half of July.

And, be sure to check again as July and August come around as there are always opportunities that crop up closer to the deadline dates.


Overall Art on the Corner 2024 Temporary Outdoor Exhibit

Grand Junction, Colorado

Summary: Downtown Grand Junction is a State Certified Creative District and manages Art on the Corner with rotating sculptures displayed in the historic downtown shopping park. The temporary sculptures are displayed throughout the Main Street corridor, amongst many of the AOTC’s permanent collection.

All artwork must be available for sale to the public. The artist agrees that AOTC will handle all sales and that AOTC will retain a 25% commission for any artwork purchases during the exhibit period or as a direct result of this exhibit.

The Artist or representative is required to deliver their artwork andmust be present for the installation scheduled on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at 7:00 a.m.

Budget: All artists who are accepted will receive a $1,000 honorarium after installation. Two nights of lodging will also be provided for incoming artists for Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th, 2024.

City Mark Capital Art Project

Rochester, New York

Summary: The City Mark Project is intended to give Rochester a new permanent physical Artwork that recognizes and celebrates the City Mark design. The Artwork should be unique, prominent and iconic, and should celebrate the “City Mark,” the five-petaled symbol of Rochester’s “Flour City” past and “Flower City” present that has become a sign of community pride.  

The primary focal point for the Artwork is the center point of the Sister Cities Bridge over the Genesee River, where three bridge segments intersect. Potential secondary locations are located to the east and west of the bridge. The contract resulting from this RFQ process will include design, fabrication, transport, and installation of this proposed work of public art.

Budget: The budget for the Project shall not exceed $590,000. This sum is inclusive of all costs associated with the project, including artist fees, engineering fees, insurance, identification signage, lighting, fabrication, site preparation, site restoration, transport, travel, installation, and other project related expenses.

Up to three artists will be selected as finalists, and will receive a stipend in the amount of $1,500 to prepare a conceptual design for the Project.

Estudio Corazon Artist in Residence

Abiquiu, New Mexico

Summary: Ghost Ranch, an Education & Retreat Center in Abiquiu, NM is nestled amidst breathtaking red and yellow cliffs where vibrant colors dance to life and the intersection of history and spirituality is discovered. From captivating archaeological sites to invigorating outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding, Ghost Ranch provides a sanctuary for exploration, rejuvenation, and the nurturing of one’s inner self. With a diverse and storied past, which encompasses the majestic era of dinosaurs and the artistic presence of icons like Georgia O’Keeffe, Ghost Ranch warmly welcomes individuals from all corners of the world who seek inspiration, connection, and a profound sense of wonder within its transformative embrace.

Estudio Corazón is an artist residency program within Ghost Ranch. The mission of Estudio Corazón is to nurture creatives of all sorts in their artistic pursuits. We foster a healthy experience for our residents by laying aside judgment, prejudice, and expectations to create. There is no requirement to do anything at the residency because we know the experience alone has the potential to make significant impacts on the residents and expand their creativity.

Seven artists at a time are housed in individual casitas, each with a separate bedroom and studio. The living side has a queen bed, writing desk and chair, lounge chair, dresser, and clothes hanging space. The studio is equipped with a 4’ x 8’ work table, a 8’ x 4’ vertical work board, an H-Frame wood easel, display shelves, stool, fan, folding camp chair, and a small refrigerator. All residents share a large bathhouse a short distance from the casitas.

Residencies are 2 or 4 weeks and we accept a variety of mediums.

Eligibility Requirements: There is no requirement to do anything at the residency because we know the experience alone has the potential to make significant impacts on the residents and expand their creativity. Residents are responsible for transportation, materials, and personal expenses.

Special Notes: (Entry Fee): $25.00. Please note there is no WiFi at the casitas, yet there are spots in other locations on the ranch for communication.

Sculpture in Sterling

Sterling, Colorado

Summary: We are already known as the City of Living Trees because of our amazing hand-carved tree sculptures but we’ve been working hard to grow and expand our art scene. Sculpture in Sterling is our way of bringing new and exciting sculptures and artists. We hope you will consider being a part of our inaugural year.

If artwork is sold, while on loan, we will retain a 10% commission. We are accepting highly durable and resilient sculptures of any media, that are at least 5 feet tall, from artists nationwide. Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces. 

Two sculptures will be chosen for our year long, outdoor exhibit that will be installed on Saturday, October 5, 2024 and remain for one year.

Budget: Each artist will receive a $1,000 honorarium.

Special Notes: Installation will be on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Artist or artist representative must be present to install sculpture. No exceptions will be made.
