One call for artists added 12/28/22 with a deadline of Jan 4.
As we close out 2022 and welcome the New Year, we are happy to celebrate the many call for artists that are available for January including these 9 with deadlines through Jan 12, 2023. While we are looking at redesigning the website (and we are open to your suggestions for improved ease of use), at least for now we will continue to post this opportunities for sculptors in our traditional format.
2023 Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit
Olathe, Kansas
Summary: The City of Olathe is seeking large-scale, three-dimensional sculpture entries for our 2023 Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit. The City of Olathe’s Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit, a juried sculpture competition, has annually brought a rotating display of sculpture from regional and national artists since 2004. The goal of the program is to activate Olathe’s original town core area, connect people to the community, and celebrate the community’s love for the arts.
Budget: Artists will receive a $2,500 honorarium for each work selected for a one-year lease.

Colorado Avenue & Columbia Street Roundabout
Bend, Oregon
Summary: Art in Public Places is a non-profit organization that has donated public art throughout the city of Bend, Oregon since 1973. AiPP has donated large scale sculptures to the City of Bend for 20 roundabouts as well as numerous other works of art to Bend Park & Recreation District, Central Oregon Community College, Deschutes Public Library and St. Charles Foundation. Bend’s public art collection is a permanent part of what makes Bend so unique and a wonderful place to visit and reside.
The overall size of the roundabout is 80 ft. in diameter. There are several large areas available for sculpture footings at this roundabout location.
Budget: $130,000

Eligibility Requirements: Open to Artists and Artist Teams residing in the Northwest and Southwest United States, specifically Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Women, LGBTQAI+ community members are highly encouraged to apply. Artists living in Oregon are highly encouraged to apply.
Special Notes: Only the Artist that receives the Commission (if out-of-state and/or using a business name) will need to secure a Registered Agent (an official address in Oregon) and then register with the State of Oregon as a Domestic or Foreign entity (anyone outside Oregon) and provide a certificate of good standing from the State that you reside in. This is standard practice for most public entities and will be a necessary step and expense as we finalize the Commission Contract.

Oklahoma City Zoo Shore to Sea Exhibit
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Summary: The public art sought through this announcement will be designed for the Shore to Sea Exhibit featuring sea lions and penguins at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The art will address the two entries to the exhibit. The selected artist or artist team will coordinate work with the design team composed of sh|r studios and Beck Design. Exhibit construction is anticipated to begin in June 2023 with completion anticipated in December 2024
The theme of the Exhibit is “Protect our waters—they connect us in surprising ways.” The Exhibit provides visitors the opportunity to learn about healthy ocean systems, healthy coast lines, and animal specific facts through the experience of seeing and interacting with sea lions and penguins, and through viewing and reading exhibits about climate change, pollution, fish populations, and more

Eligibility Requirements: This opportunity is open to all practicing artists who are at least 18 years of age. All artists and artist
teams selected as Finalists must attend all required information sessions and site visits.
Special Notes: The Art to be created for this project will be high impact, visually conveying the Zoo mission and the Exhibit theme. Sound, light, and motion may be incorporated in the work but are not required. Artists must be prepared to coordinate work and collaborate with the design team and Zoo staff.

Grant Road Overpass
Tucson, Arizona
Summary: The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility, the Regional Transportation Authority in collaboration with the Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona invites artists to submit qualifications for the opportunity to create innovative public artwork for the Grant Road at UPRR Project.
This Request for Qualifications public art opportunity is open to all forms of public art that are appropriate for the Southern Arizona climate.

Individual Artist Grants
Davis, California
Summary: The City of Davis Arts & Culture Grants for Individual Artists is a one-time grant program, funded by the City of Davis from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The goal of the grant is to stabilize the City’s nonprofit arts & culture sector, which saw a significant negative economic impact due to the pandemic. The grant will offer unrestricted support, with the intention of providing financial relief to eligible working artists and cultural practitioners whose work aligns with the goals of the city’s Arts & Cultural Affairs program, and to assist with the ongoing economic and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on our arts sector to help them on the path back to financial sustainability.
Budget: Grants of $1,000 will be made to eligible individuals to support their professional and personal costs which were impacted by COVID-19.

Temporary Public Art – Trailhead Project
Santa Clarita, California
Summary: There is no required theme for this opportunity however consideration of response to the landscape and site-specificity is encouraged. Sculpture must fit on the pre-determined concrete pad. The pad measures 96” by 96” with a usable corner-to-corner space of 72” by 72”. A horizontal base could use the maximum length of the base if its width is within the dimensions. Pads are either flush or are a few inches raised from the ground. Sculptures should be no less than 6’ and no more than 15’ in height excluding the base.
Budget: A $5,000 honorarium will be provided for each selected artwork. An additional $1,500 stipend will be provided to the artist to cover the required three-year insurance costs

Eligibility Requirements: Artists 18 years of age or older are invited to submit an individual or collaborative artist application. Artist must have a US mailing address for payment to be mailed to and must fill out a W-9.
Special Notes: All sculptures must be designed with tabs (anchorage) or other devices that can be utilized to easily secure the artwork to the concrete pads. The concrete pads may not be altered in any way to accommodate the artwork, except for the anchorage locations. These tabs or other devices must already be secured to the sculpture.

Riverview at Festival Pier
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Summary: Public Art Opportunity for a site-specific exterior large scale artwork in Philadelphia, PA. The use of light or water, although, not required, is of interest to the team. This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is Part 1 of a two part Public Art Selection Process for Festival Pier in which up to five finalists will be selected by PHDC based on recommendations from PHDC Public Art Committee, the Developer, and community members.
Budget: $1,100,000

4A-Union Village Park Shade Structure
Easton Park, Texas
Summary: Brookfield Residential is seeking to commission a Texas artist or team of artists to create a new one-of-a-kind permanent artwork installation that will also serve to create shade for a community park. The artwork will become part of a growing collection of artworks commissioned for community parks located within in Easton Park, a vibrant housing community just twelve miles east of downtown Austin. The structure should engage with the theme of context of the park that invites imagination, play and a place to gather.
Budget: $75,000

Summary: Brookfield Residential is seeking to commission a Texas artist or team of artists to create a new one-of-a-kind permanent artwork installation that will utilize or reference airplanes and/or airplane parts for 2D – Pilot Park. The commissioned artwork for 2D – Pilot Park should engage with the theme of the park and honor the significance of airplane flight in a compelling and unexpected way.

“Lost Creek – Celebrating the Story of an African American Settlement” (RFQ)
Terre Haute, Indiana
Summary: In 2010, Art Spaces, working in collaboration with other arts and cultural organizations, began a “Cultural Trail” to honor notable individuals, icons and stories from Terre Haute that are unique to our place and history, have had a positive impact on arts and culture worldwide and help to define who we are today. This call is for the next piece in the “Cultural Trail.”
The Lost Creek Settlement was founded in the early 1800’s when a group of free African Americans traveled to what is now Vigo County from Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina to escape the greater dangers of the pre-Civil War south. The Lost Creek settlers were among some of Vigo County’s earliest non-indigenous residents.
Budget: $103,000

Eligibility Requirements: This opportunity is open to practicing professional artists over 18 years of age working with durable materials and demonstrating the capacity to successfully achieve the stated goals. This capacity may be achieved through a partnership, in which case both partners will need to submit their materials.
Special Notes: The site selected for the sculpture has been chosen for its accessibility by pedestrians, cars, school buses, bicycles, etc. The natural park setting is desirable in its similarity to the terrain of the Lost Creek Settlement, just six miles away.
