Announcing 30 call for artists with deadlines January 20-31, 2023. Many of these calls have opportunities for more than one sculptor. With this wide variety of calls we are sure all of our sculptor friends will find something that is right up their alley. So check them out and apply away!

Bernalillo County @ Alvarado Square
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Summary: The Bernalillo County Arts Board solicits a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for an innovative, signature work of public art for Bernalillo County @ Alvarado Square, the home of Bernalillo County government offices. The selected artist or artist team will create an architecturally integrated piece that is responsive to the site and that will become an iconic landmark that identifies Bernalillo County and welcomes the public to the facility. The work may be integrated into the exterior or interior architecture of the building. The work should reflect the diverse cultures and landscapes of Bernalillo County.
Budget: $200,000

South End Station Art
Charlotte, North Carolina
Summary: The City of Charlotte is continuing to expand transportation options in the region, and the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking a professional artist or artist team to incorporate art into the South End Station.
During design and construction, the light rail must remain operational. There are multiple functional art opportunities at the station including shelter windscreens, shelter column cladding, platform pavement, fencing, or benches. The main design challenge seeking to be addressed is “way finding” to the station utilizing height (eye-catching canopy finials, etc.) or progressive design elements (sidewalk elements, etc.) that could lead riders to the station from pedestrian access points. Artists will work collaboratively with the project team to incorporate their designs into the construction bid documents. The finished art will be fully integrated into the site.
Budget: $125,000

2023 Cultural Council for Palm Beach County Biennial
Palm Beach County, Florida
Summary: The Cultural Council for Palm Beach County enthusiastically announces an Open Call to Palm Beach County artists for its 2023 Biennial. This edition of the Cultural Council’s Biennial welcomes visual artists residing in Palm Beach County to submit their artwork for the exhibition opening on April 21, 2023. The 2023 Cultural Council Biennial is juried by Juana Williams, the Associate Curator of African-American Art at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Budget: The 2023 Cultural Council Biennial will feature three prizes chosen by the guest Juror/Curator. The top prize will be $2,000.00, while second will be $1,000.00 and third $500.00. There will also be a People’s Choice award tabulated by votes made throughout the exhibition and presented after the exhibition ends.

Public Art Planning & Conceptual Design Services
Cary, North Carolina
Summary: Cary, NC Public Art Program is accepting qualifications from Artists (or Artist Teams) for planning and conceptual design services to collaborate with Design Team to identify public art opportunities within the Mills Park Community Center (a new community center) and The Center (Cary’s new multi-purpose indoor sports center)
Budget: $50,000 for Each Project

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be age 18 or older, and are eligible regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identification, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical ability.
Special Notes: An artist selection panel will be convened to evaluate submissions and select up to three finalists for interviews. Pending interviews, one Artist (or Artist Team) and an alternate will be selected for the project. Finalists will receive a $2,250 stipend to cover expenses associated with the in-person site visit and interview. A proposal is not required from finalists selected for interviews.

DownEast National Juried Sculpture Exhibition
Pitt County, North Carolina
Summary: The exhibition has two components: a month-long indoor exhibition and a year-long outdoor exhibition. Each artist must submit a minimum of 3 entries. The fee for 3 entries is $20. Additional entries cost $5 per entry with a limit of 6 total.
Budget: 1st Place: $500, 2nd Place: $250, 3rd Place: $100

Eligibility Requirements: This exhibition is open to all artists ages 18 and up. Any three-dimensional media is eligible. Indoor submissions must fit through a standard sized door. Work must be ready for display.

University of Illinois Art in Architecture for the E15 parking structure
Urbana-Champaign, Illinois
Summary:
The committee has created the objectives for specific area to complement both the building and campus. Choice of media for the project is broad but should be in material suitable for a long life in an exterior environment. The committee will consider both two- and three-dimensional artwork. Due to the exterior location, the artist should consider works that have impact from both close-up range and from a distance.
Medium: Two or Three-dimensional pieces mounted to the exterior walls.
Theme: This part of campus represents transitions from athletics to academics. With the new Smith Football Center across the street to the west and the College of Law across the street to the north, this location will serve not only as a transportation hub but as a transition into the main academic areas of campus. This location represents both movement and transitions.
Budget: $80,000

2023 Yokna Sculpture Trail
Oxford, Mississippi
Summary: The City of Oxford, The University of Mississippi and the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council announce the 2023 prospectus of the outdoor sculpture program throughout the area of Oxford, Mississippi. The collaborative program, called the Yokna Sculpture Trail, provides between 15 and 20 large-scale sculptures throughout the local campus and community. The program selects approximately half its exhibition annually which then rotates on a staggered two year exhibition schedule. The 2023 call for entries welcomes submissions from locally, regionally and nationally exhibiting artists. The sculptures selected for 2023 will be exhibited in four distinct locations throughout Oxford, MS from April 15, 2023 to March 1, 2025.
Budget: Each artist whose work is selected and installed for the duration of the contract will receive a stipend of $2000 per sculpture to defer any travel and transportation costs for delivery and removal of the sculptures.

Eligibility Requirements: All works must be original and completed within the last five years by artists 18 and older who are legal residents of the United States
Special Notes: Exhibited works may be for sale during the exhibition period, but the work must remain on site for the duration of the exhibition. Yoknapatawpha Arts Council will receive a 15% commission on any sales handled through the Yokna Sculpture Trail program. The artist will receive the remaining 85%.

Downtown Sculpture Walk 2023
Lee’s Summit, Missouri
Summary: The City of Lee’s Summit (MO) Cultural Arts Division is accepting applications for the 2023 Downtown Sculpture Walk temporary sculpture exhibit. Sculptures must be available for exhibition between mid-May 2023 through mid-May 2024. The Downtown Sculpture Walk seeks to increase walkable access to public art in Lee’s Summit.
Budget: Selected artists will receive a stipend of $1,500 to offset costs associated with installation, travel and per diem.

37th Annual All Florida Exhibition
Summary: This annual show is the most anticipated of the year. As the name suggests, this exhibition features pieces created by artists working in a wide variety of media from all over the 65,000 square miles that make up Florida. The juried entries come together for an award-winning and exciting exhibition representing today’s contemporary Florida artists. All 3D artwork must not exceed six feet in any direction or 150 lbs. All artwork must have been completed in the last two years and not previously shown at the Alliance.
Budget: Awards include $1,000 cash for Best In Show, a 2nd Place gift certificate, $100 cash for 3rd place and Jurors Choice Award(s) of Alliance for the Arts membership(s).

Public Sculpture or Installation
Saranac Lake, New York
Summary: The Village of Saranac Lake in New York is seeking proposals from any professional artist or artist teams for a Sculpture or Installation for Riverfront or Prescott Park on the shoreline of Lake Flower. The intention of the project is to enhance the park experience without distracting from the original purpose of the parks of providing green spaces for the community. Artists are encouraged to consider the Village theme of “Decidedly Different”, and the culture and history of Saranac Lake, but it is not required.
The proposed work may be sculpture, statue, installation, monument, earthwork or landscape-oriented artwork.

Applicants should have a record of successfully completed projects at larger dimensions; however, emerging public artists will be considered if their demonstrated work and proposal are strong. Permanent Harriet Tubman Statue Call For Artists
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Summary: The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) and the African American Historic Statue Advisory Committee (Advisory Committee) have launched a competition to commission a site-specific, public art statue on the Northeast apron of City Hall that will celebrate Harriet Tubman’s life, story and legacy.
This is a two-part competition consisting of Part 1: Submission of Qualifications and Part 2: Semi-Finalist Proposals. In Part 1 of the competition, all artists or artist teams who are interested in this opportunity are invited to respond to this Call for Artists by submitting an application detailing their qualifications ONLY.
Budget: $500,000

Sculpture on the Town
Morganton, North Carolina
Summary: A top priority of the Morganton Cultural Arts Commission is to implement public art in public spaces. Hence the Call to Artists for large sculpture to be placed on 3 sites around town.
Budget: An honorarium will be awarded to each artist whose sculpture is selected in the amount of $3000. A people’s choice award will be given in September in the amount of $1000.

Elmwood Art Walk: Artist at Work
Roanoke, Virginia
Summary: The City is accepting submissions for freestanding sculpture responding to the theme “Artist at Work.” The installation will serve as the culmination of Roanoke’s 2022-23 Year of the Artist. The Art Walk includes ten pads surrounded by native plantings. Each pad is 6’ by 6’ and can hold up to 1,500 lbs. Work cannot be over 15’ tall or 6’ wide. Anchor bolts are required and must be set at least six inches from the edges of the pads.
Installation is to occur between to be completed by Monday, May 1 and Monday, May 15, 2023.Works are to be picked up between Friday, April 14 and Friday, April 28, 2025

Art in the Heart
Farmington, New Mexico
Summary: The mission of the Art in the Heart of Farmington, NM is to promote sculpture as a public art form that enhances Downtown Farmington and promotes artists from the four states of New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Utah. Up to 10 sculptures will be chosen by a juror to be displayed for up to one year and made available for sale.
Budget: Those 10 artists will receive a minimum of a $500 honorarium and travel expenses based on distance traveled. In addition, they will receive lodging for two nights on May 19 & 20th and are invited to attend an artist’s reception at the Navajo Museum of Arts & Culture in Farmington, New Mexico.

Pioneer Center Artistic Bike Rack
Reno, Nevada
Summary: The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts and City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission invite you to submit your proposals for a bike rack to be installed on the E.L. Cord Plaza at the Pioneer Center in Reno, Nevada. The Pioneer Center is seeking proposals from artists or artist teams for up to 2 artistic bike racks. These pieces will be creative placemaking streetscape elements. Materials proposed must be able to withstand weather and urban environment. The artistic bike rack will be attached to the planter/stairwell wall on the southwest corner of the E.L. Cord Plaza, to the right of the concrete bench. It cannot be bolted into the ground.
Budget: Purchase price for each bike rack will be $2,500 each. $2500 will cover all clots including design, fabrication, delivery and install.

Community Artist in Residence (CAIR) 2023-2024
Glen Ellyn, Illinois
Summary: College of DuPage visual art programs will invite artists to apply for a residency working with our students. Applying artists will propose a detailed timeline for their residency project. The residency spans a 2 to 8 week period between September 4 and November 17, 2023 and February 5 and April 26, 2024. Proposals must provide details about how the residency and subsequent project will engage our student body, including an explanation of how the project could potentially include broader forms of community engagement.

Sculpture in the Park 2023
Loveland, Colorado
Summary: SCULPTURE IN THE PARK,heralded as one of the finest outdoor juried exhibitions of three-dimensional artwork in the United States, will be held August 11 – 13, 2023 in Loveland’s nationally acclaimed Benson Sculpture Garden. Sponsored by the Loveland High Plains Arts Council (LHPAC), the 39th Annual Show and Sale will host 160 of the most talented sculptors from around the world. Each year, this outstanding exhibit attracts 15,000 – 20,000 art lovers and collectors from across the country.
The 2023 Call for Entries welcomes applications from new and previous exhibiting artists. Sculpture in the Park, the largest outdoor juried sculpture show and sale in the United States, endeavors to diversify and enrich each show by featuring a wide range of artistic expression.
Approximately 160 sculptors will be chosen to participate in Sculpture in the Park. Each piece submitted must be finished and have been created within the last three years.
Budget: Sales last year exceeded$1,600,000 with over 93% of the artists selling their work.

Sculpture in the Square 2023
Fort Collins, Colorado
Summary: Old Town Square is nestled snuggly amongst historic buildings in the heart Fort Collins, Colorado and is home to weekly concerts in the summer and year-round festivals, shopping, and dining. It is our goal to expose the citizens of Fort Collins to quality art and artists, compensate our artists well, and help promote their talents.
Six sculptures will be chosen for our year long, outdoor exhibit that will be installed on Saturday, April 22, 2023 and remain for one year.
Budget: Each artist will receive a $1,000 honorarium plus expenses if traveling over a hundred miles. A People’s Choice of $1,000 will be awarded at the end of September in 2023.

3 Emergency Medical Services Stations
Austin, Texas
Summary: he City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department seeks to commission three artists or artist teams for three opportunities to create permanent public artwork for facilities related to fire and emergency medical services. Each site shares in common an interest for artwork that integrates with the site, the interior or exterior architecture of the respective stations. The artists or artist teams selected for these projects will spend time observing and researching the work of Austin’s first responders.
Budget: One commissions will be awarded per AFD/EMS station. Each project budget is inclusive of design, fabrication, installation, engineering, permitting fees, travel, shipping expenses, insurance, and other project-related costs. Project budgets range from $196,000-$240,000.

2023 Historic Sheridan Wyoming Juried Sculpture Exhibit
Sheridan, Wyoming
Summary: Since 2002, the City of Sheridan Public Arts Committee has invited artists from across the country to participate in our On Loan Program. Submissions are due January 31, 2023. You may submit up to five pieces of your art. Sculptures will be displayed outdoors year round in the various pleasant to harsh weather conditions of Wyoming. Sculptures will be on display from April 2023 until April 2024

Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places program (AIPP) of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department (EDD) seeks to commission one team of professional visual artists to create site-specific artwork that reflects the mission of the Mexic-Arte Museum. The artworks should endow respect while celebrating and honoring the cultural contributions of Hispanic, Latino and Mexican-American heritage.

2023 Sculpture on the Move!
Missouri
Summary: The Creative Communities Alliance (CCA) is now accepting applications for the 2023 round of Sculpture on the Move where we will install approximately 20 sculptures for prominent display in outdoor, public areas across the region of St. Louis and surrounding Missouri region extending all the way to Kansas City to the west and Poplar Bluff to the south. These sculptures will be installed in the spring of 2023 for a period of two years, at which point artists can resubmit their work to be selected for another location within the regional display.
Budget: The winning artists will be awarded $1,000 per year for two years, for each sculpture selected, resulting in a total of $2,000 per sculpture.

Sculpture Evergreen Sculpture Walk 2023
Evergreen, Colorado
Summary: Sculpture Evergreen will merge with Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) by the end of the year. The two organizations are finalizing an agreement to become one, with Sculpture Evergreen becoming a part of CAE. Both organizations are thriving, and the timing is right to combine forces. Next spring CAE will break ground on a major sculpture and ceramics addition to its facilities, and is excited about adding Sculpture Evergreen’s permanent sculpture collection and annual Sculpture Walk to its scope of activities. We are happy to share this news with you and look forward to an exciting collaboration.
Initiated in 1999, this is a juried exhibition of up to 16 large sculptures suitable for OUTDOOR DISPLAY. Sculptures will be on display for 1 year until June 1, 2024.
Budget: A stipend of $1000.00 will be awarded for each accepted sculpture. In addition, there is a Juried Award of $1000.00 for artistic excellence.

Navasota Artist in Residence Spring 23

Summary: The Artist in Residence program provides artists with the opportunity to live and work in the Horlock House to focus on the creation, promotion, and sale of their artwork. Provided by the City of Navasota free of charge, the Horlock House offers a living, studio, and retail space for two to three selected artists. The term of the residency is roughly five (5) to six (6) months; and will require participation in community events and programs
Budget: Each artist will receive a one-time $600 stipend at the beginning of the residency to assist with groceries, fuel, and supply purchases.

19th Annual Sculpture Garden
Wichita Falls, Texas
Summary: The 19th Annual Sculpture Garden exhibit at the Kemp Center For The Arts in Wichita Falls, Texas is now open for entries. All forms of outdoor sculpture will be considered, provided it meets the requirements of the prospectus (please read specs carefully). Sculptures will be on display for 12 months from installation in May 2023. Artwork must remain on display for the entirety of the exhibit. 2023 Left Coast Annual Juried Exhibition
Pacifica, California
Summary: The mission of Sanchez Art Center is to create community through art. Sanchez Art Center offers a comfortable and welcoming place for the community to come together, engage and be enriched by the arts, along with providing artists a number of opportunities to exhibit their work. Established in 1996 when artists and community members converted an old school into a multi-use complex, today the Pacifica Center for the Arts campus includes 3 galleries, studio space for over 30 visual artists, the Mary Harris Arts Education Room, and the Mildred Owen Concert Hall.
Sanchez Art Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, provides free exhibitions and talks by emerging and established west coast artists, education and engagement designed to make art accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, and affordable art studios for San Francisco Bay Area artists.
Work must be able to fit through a standard-sized door (80” x 35”) and weigh less than 50 lbs.
