July Call for Artists Heat Up

18 more call for artists round out the opportunities for sculptors this July.

Taylor Park
Millburn, NJ
Summary: The Township of Millburn is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from prospective artists to design, fabricate and install artwork for placement alongside the Main Street side of Taylor Park. The proposed artwork is being coordinated by the Cultural Engagement Diversity and Arts Committee (CEDA) and the Art Advisory Committee (AAC).
Budget: $22,000

Eligibility Requirements: no restrictions noted
Special Notes: The art installation shall be a three-dimensional object, with flexibility given to proposals that suggest a sculpture or other physical objects. Elements to be incorporated in the art piece should represent the township’s history, such as by including or referencing a millwheel, though the millwheel is not a requirement. The art piece can be non-stationary and non-interactive, with elements that point to community engagement and diversity. Designs may also reflect the moment our community is in, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Art for Atlanta
Atlanta, GA
Summary: Laura Adams and Andrew Feiler, along with Atlanta City Council Representative Jennifer Ide, invite you to submit a proposal for a sculpture to be placed permanently in the plaza where Greenwood Avenue meets the Beltline in Atlanta’s Virginia Highland neighborhood.
Budget: Up to $17,500

Special Notes: Up to three finalists will be invited to attend an optional site tour, ask questions and gather additional information for their second-round proposals. Sculpture360 Season X
Clearwater, FL
Summary: The city of Clearwater, in partnership with the Public Art and Design Board and the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), is seeking three artists to install completed sculptures on the 400-600 blocks of Cleveland Street in Downtown Clearwater.
Budget: $9,000: three artists will be awarded a $3,000 honorarium for the loan of the art

TVC Musical Benches Public Art Collection
Beaverton, OR
Summary: TVC is working to grow the Washington County, Oregon public art portfolio. As part of this effort TVC is using grant-funded capital support to commission new works in what is being called a Musical Benches Public Art Collection (MB). TVC is working closely with arts councils, commissions, and community stakeholders to develop the scope of this collection. MB works will be strategically placed in order to highlight qualities of particular communities, enhance existing events, and/or to bring foot traffic to under-utilized areas.
Budget: Each work, or set/pair of works, has a maximum budget of $15,000 which includes all expenses incurred from design, fabrication, transportation, installation, and artist fees. This being a multi-work collection, artists may apply for up to four installation sites. Each site has a maximum budget of $15,000.

Art in Public Buildings RFQ: Skilled Nursing Facility
Cheyenne, WY
Summary: The Wyoming Department of Health, along with the Veteran’s Commission and State Construction Department, are constructing the Veteran’s Home of Wyoming Skilled Nursing Facility, located in Buffalo, Wyoming. Through the State’s Art in Public Buildings program, outdoor sculpture or functional artwork will be commissioned for the new facility, which consists of three resident cottages. Artists are asked to submit examples of completed work and to demonstrate their interest and ability to complete a public art project.
The committee is interested in exterior artwork, including sculpture or functional art. There are opportunities for functional art around the exterior of the cottages, at the entrances, or at the flagpole. This includes signage, benches, bike racks, integrated lighting, or work that integrates into railing or fencing. The committee is also interested in stamped concrete or work that is integrated into sidewalks or pathways.
Budget: $41,212.00.

Special Notes: The committee would like to see artwork that encompasses the themes and motifs of Wyoming, including wildlife, the Buffalo area, mountains, or Western artwork. They are also interested in work that incorporates the history of the site and Fort McKinney, or other military themes. Artwork should be uplifting, inspiring, or celebratory. Artwork must be ADA accessible.

Fire Station 42 Call for Public Art
Bothell, WA
Summary: he City of Bothell is seeking a qualified artist or artist team to develop site-specific artwork for Fire Station #42. Fire station #42 is located at 10726 Beardslee Blvd in downtown Bothell. Located on a bustling street, this station links Bothell’s Main Street of shops and eateries and UW Bothell/Cascadia College campuses. The design team has determined that preference will be given to artwork that is located on the exterior of the property and can be viewed by passersby. A site map and schematic of the preliminary station is attached.

City of El Paso- 2020 Art Purchase Program

Summary: CALL FOR EXISTING ARTWORKS
The Museums & Cultural Affairs Department is building a public collection of artwork created by El Paso Area artists that recognizes the artistic talent and cultural diversity in El Paso, Texas. The artwork will become part of the City of El Paso Art Collection and is to be displayed in City Hall buildings for the benefit and enjoyment of the general public.

Temporary Public Artwork RFQ
Eugene, OR
Summary: The City of Eugene (CoE) is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) from experienced and emerging artists or artist-teams eligible to contract with CoE to create a temporary, public work of art on the chainlink fencing surrounding the future Downtown Riverfront Redevelopment site. The fence is located on High Street, 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue. Up to 3 artists and/or teams selected as finalists through the RFQ process will be invited to prepare formal proposals.
Budget: The all-inclusive budget for this work is $10,000 and may be divided to commission multiple artists or groups.

LCCC Surbrugg Prentice Auditorium
Cheyenne, WY
Summary: The committee is interested in interior artwork, including 2D work, wall mounted relief work, site specific installations, murals, or small sculptures. There are opportunities for artwork in the lobby area of the SPA, including at the top of the stairs leading up from the parking lot, and other wall space throughout the lobby. The committee is also specifically interested in work for the main public entrance.

Civic Art Projects for Sunnyside Multi-Service and Health Center
Houston, TX
Summary: Opportunity for Exterior OR Interior Permanent Artworks
The Civic Art Program of the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA) requests the submission of qualifications from artists or artist-teams to design, fabricate, and install major permanent works of public art for the new Sunnyside Multi-Service and Health Center. Commissioned works will be accessioned into the City of Houston’s Art Collection.
Budget: $210,000.00 for outdoor artwork; and $134,000.00 for indoor artwork

Carpio-Sanguinette Park/Heron Pond Public Art Project
Denver, CO
Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission one or more Colorado artists or artist teams to create original works of art for the Carpio-Sanguinette Park / Heron Pond.
Budget: The total public art budget for the park is $250,000 USD, and the art selection panel would like to commission several works of art with individual budgets of between $50,000 and $125,000.

Crossroads Power Substation
Loveland, CO
Summary: The City of Loveland Art in Public Places is accepting Requests for Qualifications for sculptural concrete panels to be installed at the Crossroads Power Substation located along N. Boyd Lake Avenue in northeast Loveland.
There is a strong desire to include public artwork along the 321’l x 12’h façade of this substation due to its high visibility and close proximity to residential units and local businesses. The installed artwork will be located within the sight lines of motorists and passersby.
Budget: A maximum of $75,000 has been allocated for the project to include design, fabrication, insurance, travel, contingency and incidental costs. The City will pay an independent contractor up to $25,000 for the installation of the artwork panels.

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to any professional artist (or artist team) with demonstrated experience in creating signature concrete relief artwork of a large scale. The selected artist(s) will be responsible for the design, fabrication and delivery of these panels ready-to-install at the site.
Special Notes: The Commission is requesting qualifications only (no proposals). From this RFQ, up to three finalists may be selected to present design concepts for this project. Finalists will be paid an honorarium to develop and present their artwork design concepts. Please do not submit proposals as those proposals will be removed from the jury process.

Oerman-RocheTrailhead Public Art

Summary: This project offers two possible opportunities and both application processes are open simultaneously: 1) Direct purchase of existing and available sculpture (Call for Entry), and 2) Commission of a site-specific design (Request for Qualifications).
The vision of the Oerman-Roche Trailhead project is to feature a site-specific design commission or an existing sculpture available for purchase. The selected design will be welcoming and draw people to experience its peaceful, meditative qualities before entering into the trail area. The design can be comprised of a number of natural materials from stone, wood, glass and/or metal to recycled materials. The placement of the design feature at the site will highlight and showcase the view looking west toward the mountain range by means of a curved, circular or post and lintel design, and it will be situated in the western portion of the newly constructed trailhead and parking lot.
The site-specific design commission or purchased sculpture may incorporate unique, creative and historic design elements, and embody the Town motto: “The Gateway to Boulder Valley”. Further, this piece will provide a space that is educational, accessible and useful for all age groups and abilities. Note: The Historical Commission has already prepared signage for the trailhead and is in favor of incorporating their designs into this project, which include a photograph of roughly the same view, circa 1930.

Creative Community Lynnstallation
Lynn, MA
Summary: The City of Lynn, the Downtown Lynn Cultural District (DTLCD), the Lynn Office of Community Development and the Lynn Public Arts Commission (LPAC) are seeking an artistic concept for a signature work of art at Lynn’s Mt. Vernon and Exchange Street Plaza. The goal of this project is to install artwork that reflects the spirit of Lynn, enlivens the gateway to the DTLCD as a destination, and increases use of the Plaza as a gathering space.
Artists are encouraged to envision concepts for a circular patch of land reserved for public art in the sidewalk plaza at the corner of Mt. Vernon Street and Exchange Street.

Summary: The Decatur Arts Alliance seeks sculptures to be placed in the city of Decatur, Georgia as part of the Decatur Artway. Sculptors are encouraged to be a part of this two-year sculpture exhibition.

Price Sculpture Forest Exhibition
Coupeville, WA
Summary: Price Sculpture Forest is currently under construction and is proactively reaching out to sculptors who would like to publicly exhibit your outdoor work for sale or for public exhibition at this new upcoming sculpture park. For early participants, we are offering zero commission (100% to artist), marketing of your work, and no jury submission fee. We are also allowing early participants to choose your own best location for your sculpture within the park.
We are opening with two initial focus themes: Nature Nurtured (evoking natural elements, ecosystems, wildlife, or our interaction with those) and Whimsy Way (bring on the fun factor with unusual, humorous, or “cool”).
We anticipate opening to the public around August-September this year.
