Last Call for Artists, April 2021

Following are 17 different call for artists, many with more than one opportunity for sculptors. Deadlines range from April 23-April 30. Keep in mind, most applications are not requesting specific proposals at this time. Whether you are looking for an exhibition, an art on loan program, or an opportunity for a sculpture commission, be sure to read through and find the right call for you.
“NEVER FORGET 911” Fire Station #4
Wylie, Texas
Summary: The Public Arts Advisory Board of the City of Wylie, Texas seeks to commission an original, exterior, site-specific, functionally, philosophically, and artistically integrated space for the New Wylie Fire Rescue, Fire Station #4
The design should include, a memorial reflecting the 343 FDNY Firefighters killed on 9/11. The WFR is working to obtain a piece of the World Trade Center; in the event a piece is obtained, a place to incorporate the piece within the design but not noticeable if a piece is not obtained. Materials can be stone, concrete, metal or other materials used to create a mural. Water features are desired but not required

Farmers Market Pavilion Public Artwork RFQ
Eugene, Oregon
Summary: This project offers an exciting opportunity for artists to create site-specific works that are iconic, enliven the space for the community, contributes to a sense of belonging in Eugene and beyond. Artists chosen as finalists will be asked to produce site-specific concepts representing their interpretation of potential themes established by the Public Art Selection Committee

Call for ILLINOIS Artists
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Summary: The Art-in-Architecture Program of the Capital Development Board is pleased to announce a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to Illinois professional artists to create permanent original public art for Illini Hall on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus in Champaign, Illinois.

Monarch Art Trail RFP
Walton County, Florida
Summary: The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County requests proposals from artists or artist groups to design, fabricate, and install small-scale or mid-scale permanent outdoor works of art along the Monarch Art Trail (MAT). Eight (8) pieces of work that are inspired by, representative of, or celebrating the natural environment of Northwest Florida and/or the natural migration of the Monarch butterfly through our region will be installed along a one mile stretch of bike path that connects Highway 98 with Scenic Highway 30A.

ArtSS in the Open 2021
Sandy Springs, Georgia
Summary: This public sculpture competition was created to bring fine art to the parks and public spaces throughout the city of Sandy Springs, including the $229 million, 14-acre City Springs complex, which opened in August 2018. Nine sculptures will be prominently displayed around the four-acre City Green in September 2021. This is a temporary exhibit, with new installations placed each year. As part of its growing public arts collection, the city will purchase one or more sculptures from each competition to be permanently placed in public locations around Sandy Springs.

Dogwood Arts Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition
Knoxville, TN
Summary: The Art in Public Places Sculpture is an annually rotating, outdoor sculpture exhibition that are installed in prominent locations throughout Knoxville, Oak Ridge, and Alcoa. Started in 2007 by Eddie Mannis and Bart Watkins, the Art in Public Places sculpture program has curated and installed over 240 works of art and gained national recognition as a platform for exhibiting world-class sculptors.
Budget: all finalists whose works are installed will receive an Artist Stipend of $2,000, plus various cash awards will be given

4 Fire/Emergency Medical Services Station Opportunities
Austin, Texas
Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department seeks to commission four (4) local artists or artist teams to create permanent public artwork for stations related to fire and emergency medical services. The commissioned artwork should reflect the mission of the Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (AFD/EMS) “to create safer communities through prevention, preparedness, and effective emergency response.” Artworks should be integrated into the spaces of the stations. A range of materials and conceptual approaches are welcome!
Budget: A budget of $365,000 will be split across 4 AFD/EMS stations in Austin.

UF ASB 632 Data Science and Information Technology Building
Gainesville, Florida
Summary: The Art in State Buildings Program at the University of Florida will be commissioning an artist or artist team to create a site-specific work of art for the new UF ASB 632 Data Science and Information Technology Building in Gainesville, FL. The sites for art are both interior and exterior and all appropriate media will be considered.

Indiana Call for Artists
Indiana
Summary: EL Design Studios (art consultants) is currently recruiting all Indiana and Midwest artists, galleries, and art organizations whose work may be considered for purchase and display at a hospital in Indiana.
Artists are invited to submit both 2D and 3D work, with an emphasis on nature and or Indiana inspired art. Artwork can be readily available for purchase or artist is open to possible commissions. Purchases will be chosen by EL Design Studios who is tasked with selecting pieces that reflect the hospital’s criteria for artwork.

Lauderhill Performing Arts Center
Lauderhill, Florida
Summary: The City of Lauderhill’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original public artwork(s) for the exterior of Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. The identified exterior area for the potential art opportunity is located outside of the box office area.
The City is seeking a wall sculpture with lighting that will enhance the experience of those that visit the performing arts center. The sculpture will complement the building and the interior artwork located in the lobby of the center. Works that are innovative, inspiring, and vibrant are desired. The footprint for the work is approximately 24 ft wide x 12 ft tall.

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to national (U.S. based) artists, regardless of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, sexual orientation, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical abilities. The City is especially interested in artists who can demonstrate a deep understanding of the community, as well as the area’s history.
Special Notes: The artist is expected to consider the artwork’s exposure to sub-tropical climate, humidity, intense sunlight, high winds, and heavy rains. In addition, the artwork will be required to meet Florida Building Code and Hurricane Resistant Requirements.

Something New IV
Bainbridge Island, Washington
Summary: Arts and Humanities Bainbridge (AHB), Public Art Committee (PAC) and the City of Bainbridge Island (COBI) invite all local and Washington State artists to submit their artwork for Something New Phase IV. Three sculptures will be selected as part of the Something New IV rotating art exhibition for 2020.
Budget: Each selected artist will receive a $1,000 honorarium with the opportunity to be recognized for a $1,000 People’s Choice Award.

Art in the Park, Worcester 2021
Worcester, Massachusetts
Summary: Public art energizes, stimulates, and transforms the presenter, maker, viewer and the places where we live, work, study, and play. Art in the Park, Worcester is dedicated to making public art accessible to all. Since 2008 a dedicated volunteer committee of cultural arts presenters, sculptors and community supporters have presented this juried exhibition. The exhibit was one of six projects to receive the Gold Star Award in 2009 – a statewide award given by the Massachusetts Cultural Council to recognize exemplary cultural programs funded by a local cultural council and in 2017 received Gateway Cities’ Innovation award. The exhibit continues in Elm Park; a National Registry public park with both Olmsted designed and inspired elements. Art in the Park, Worcester in partnership with the Arts and Business Council of Boston and the City of Worcester’s Parks Department present the exhibit.
Budget: Exhibitors will each receive an $800.00 stipend to show at Elm Park. One stipend per artist and site regardless of number of pieces accepted.

Bethany Arts Community Sculpture Park

Summary: Bethany Arts Community (BAC) invites artists to propose project ideas for the sculpture park we are developing on the BAC property. We hope that you will read and share with others who may be interested in submitting a proposal.
We are looking for a large sculpture that can be seen at a distance. No taller than 15 feet. The work may be site specific, or the artist may submit an already existing piece.

RPF: Ronan Park Sculpture Exhibit, 2021-2023
Chicago, Illinois
Summary: Chicago Sculpture International, in collaboration with the Chicago Park District and the North River Commission, is seeking proposals from artists for an exhibit of five sculptures in Ronan Park’s Multicultural Sculpture Park and Healing Garden.
Works must be large scale and suitable for outdoors. They will be installed on grass. Sculptures will be on view for two years, from August 2021 to August 2023 (exact dates to be determined).
Budget: Each sculpture will receive a $3000 stipend.

Special Notes: Ronan Park’s Multicultural Sculpture Park and Healing Garden, a project in the making, is being designed as a place to find beauty and inspiration, take refuge and find a safe haven for renewal and quiet meditation. The chosen sculptures will reflect the healing, peace and unity themes of the park and garden. Ronan Park is located in the Albany Park neighborhood of Chicago, which has one of the city’s highest percentages of immigrants and is one of the most diverse areas in the U.S.

Summary: Experienced artists and artist teams are invited to apply for Sculpture Wake Forest, a juried outdoor sculpture exhibition that will be in publicly accessible outdoor spaces in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
