North Valley Complex, Exterior Opportunities

Wilsonville, Oregon

Summary: Through Oregon’s Percent for Art in Public Places Program, the Oregon Arts Commission and the Department of Administrative Services seeks to commission artworks for three exterior locations at the North Valley Complex, a newly renovated building in Wilsonville, Oregon.

Specific Locations, Budget Ranges and Goals
Site A: Southwest corner of parking lot area, adjacent to SW Freeman. $150,000 – $200,000
• A good opportunity for outdoor seating, gathering, placemaking
• Could be multifunctional, functional and/or experiential
Site B: Integrated with stormwater planter areas, near building entrance. Up to $90,000
• Specific opportunity for local emerging artists
• Integrated into stormwater planters functionally, aesthetically, or conceptually
Site C: Building frontage on SW 95th Avenue. $150,000 – $200,000
• Enhancement to benefit neighborhood/anchor the area
• Could be sculptural, screening, building-mounted, or mural

Eligibility Requirements: Artists and artist teams who reside in the states of Oregon or Washington are eligible to apply. Emerging artists and artists from traditionally or currently under-served communities, including communities of color, are especially encouraged to apply. Artists with current contracts through Oregon’s Percent for Art in Public Places program are not eligible.

Special Notes: A selection committee appointed for this project will review applications and select finalists for an interview process. Shortlisted finalists will receive an artist fee, based on the amount of their commission, to attend an interview with the committee where they will discuss their past work, art process and project approach.

“Win a Book Deal”

Summary: As the world’s leading publisher of instructional art and craft books for adults and children, Walter Foster has been teaching beginning and aspiring artists how to draw, paint, craft, and create for nearly 100 years.

Now through March 22, 2022, we are inviting artists of all disciplines to enter Walter Foster’s “Win a Book Deal” contest for an opportunity to author and publish an instructional art book with us!

Artistic Dominos/Chess Tables RFQ

Pompano Beach, Florida

Summary: The City of Pompano Beach is looking to commission an artist for a work for hire creating artistic dominos/chess tables for the City’s new Senior Activity Center. The City is looking for an artist to create a maximum of three (3) dominos/chess tables, including seating that are artistic in style. The selected artist will be required to fabricate and install the artwork at an outdoor area located at the Activity Center.

The theme for the project is playful. The tables and seating should be durable, comfortable, and smooth. The artist will ensure that the design will be code compliant and can stand up to South Florida weather conditions and wind load requirements. The tables and seating area will be on an outdoor covered area.

Budget: $10,000.00

Public Art Program: Clark Park Recreation Facility

Tempe, Arizona

Summary: The City of Tempe invites artists to submit qualifications to create artwork for a newly designed recreation and pool facility within the Clark Park Neighborhood. The selected artist will be expected to work with the city, the design team, and stakeholders to create meaningful artwork that can enhance the site and bring a sense of identity to the newly designed facility.

Budget: $200,000

Special Notes: The current design of the recreation facility offers several opportunities for an artist to create work that would benefit users of the facility as well as those within the adjacent surroundings and park. The selected artist will be asked to look at the entry to the facility as well as the elongated outer façade, connections within the facility, and other areas as part of this commission

Cultural Arts – Public Art Roster 2022

Ocala, Florida

Summary: The City of Ocala Public Artist Roster is a pre-qualified list of professional visual artists that serves as a resource for public art selection and commission at the City and as a reference for external organizations and private entities. The Roster may be used in combination with an open call, invitational or as the sole resource for identifying appropriate artists/teams for select projects based on; an expedited selection process, need for a specific skillset, or a curated opportunity. For each project, qualifications of the artists will be reviewed by the Ocala Municipal Art Commission and recommended for final approval by City staff.

Sunrise’s Flamingo Linear Park Signature Sculptures

Sunrise, Florida

Summary: The City of Sunrise, Florida is seeking to commission an Artist or Artist team to create one, possibly two, sculptures of significant size and quality to be located on the Flamingo Linear Park with the following locations: (Sculpture 1): Flamingo Road and Panther Parkway and (Sculpture 2): Flamingo Road and Oakland Park Boulevard in Sunrise, Florida. The sculptures should reflect the spirit of Sunrise and be impactful to pedestrians and passerby traffic both day and night at this high traffic roadway.

Budget: $250,000 for two sculptures (up to $125,000 per sculpture)

Eligibility Requirements: The project is open to all visual arts Professional Artists/Artist Teams in the United States.

Special Notes: The Call to Artists is expected to be conducted in two (2) phases. In the first phase, up to three (3) Artists per sculpture will be shortlisted by the Selection Committee based on experience, credentials, style and previous work. In the second phase, each shortlisted Artist will receive a $1,500 stipend for the development of a detailed proposal.

NE 1% for Art at UNL College of Engineering

Omaha, Nebraska

Summary:

The College of Engineering offers the state’s only nationally accredited undergraduate degree programs, as well as 13 master’s programs and 11 doctoral programs. This is a major project to expand and renovate the College of Engineering complex and create a large green space and pedestrian walk way.

What was once used for car traffic, 17th street will be transformed into a green space and the site for this artwork project. The green space will be surrounded by the expanded engineering complex as well as student residence halls and food services.

The new lawn at the crux of the complex activity will be a more pedestrian and linger-friendly lawn space. This public art project aims to place a large, permanent sculpture at the central focal point on the complex, that reflects or inspires the innovations of the programs surrounding it.

Budget: $400,000.00

Special Notes: The goal for this artwork is to be both eye-catching and inviting, and to encourage people to linger and use the space – so the artwork should be interesting to view both at a distance and close-up. The Committee uses words like dynamic, interactive, relatable, and envisions something bold, with significant and possibly vertical presence.

Tangelo Park Community Center Public Art—RFQ

Orlando, Florida

Summary: The Orange County Public Art Review Board seeks one or more artists or artist team(s) to develop artwork for the Tangelo Park Community Center to be constructed in Orlando Florida. Tangelo Park is a historically Black community with a proud heritage.

Possibilities for Public Art include, but are not limited to:

  • Art embedded in walls, floors or sidewalks
  • Free-standing sculpture
  • Kinetic sculpture
  • Mosaic

Broadway Public Safety Station Public Art Project

Asheville, North Carolina

Summary: The City of Asheville together with the Public Art and Cultural Commission (PACC) seek regional artists for the commissioning of original artwork(s) at the new Broadway Public Safety Station in North Asheville. The City is seeking qualifications and preliminary concepts for one or several artworks of any medium to be installed on the site surrounding the station.

Budget: $84,000

Eligibility Requirements: The City invites submittals from artists or designers age 18 or older who are eligible to work in the United States and are regionally located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia or Virginia. Qualified artists will be familiar with Asheville, will have experience with public art and experience with public engagement in the design process.

Special Notes: While the art need not necessarily have a literal reference to Fire or Police, it should explore the essence of the Public Safety ethos: community first, service, support.

Art Around Avon 2022

Avon, Colorado

Summary: The Art Around Avon is a new program with the goal of selecting up to twenty-six (26) visual art pieces for installation in pre-determined outdoor spaces in early June 2022. The selected artist’s work will be on exhibition in an outdoor location for up to twelve (12) months during which time the artist may make the work available for sale.

Budget: Selected artists will be engaged by the Town and paid a $900 stipend except for the artist selected for location #1 – see below; the stipend for this selection is $2,000.

Walk of Art 2022

Elk Rapids, Michigan

Summary: Art Rapids is seeking Artist applications for original sculptures of a size, weight, and material suited to an outdoor park setting. The sculptures will be exhibited at the Elk Rapids Day Park, owned by Antrim County and located in Elk Rapids, Michigan. The sculpture will be on display continuously for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years; however the exact time period (“loan period”) will be at the sole discretion of Art Rapids and is subject to the sale rights of the Artist explained in this Agreement. The loan period will begin on the date installation is completed.

Budget: Upon successful installation, Art Rapids will pay the Artist a stipend of $600.

El Paso St Trailhead at San Pedro Creek Culture Park

Bexar County, Texas

Summary: The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority), in partnership with Bexar County, seeks to commission an artist to create a 3-dimensional work of art for Phase 4 of San Pedro Creek Culture Park (Culture Park). The artwork will serve as a beacon for the El Paso Street Trailhead (where El Paso Street crossed the creek) and celebrate the unique history of the Culture Park. The artwork should be visible from street while also being accessible to pedestrian traffic and may be located near the trailhead or parking lot entrance.

Interstate 35 Bridge Overpass at San Pedro Creek Culture Park

Summary: The San Antonio River Authority (River Authority), in partnership with Bexar County, seeks to commission a large-scale, functional artwork for the third phase of San Pedro Creek Culture Park (Culture Park) which is currently under construction. The artwork must provide (and demonstrate) water quality improvements, one of the main goals of Culture Park, by capturing run off from the Interstate 35 bridge overpass.

Pentwater Public Arts: Sculpture Walk 2022

Summary: For this first of a three year project, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the Pentwater Arts Council (PAC) have teamed up to hold its first Sculpture Walk 2022. Five locations along the main street have been identified to display the works of five different artists.

Scovill Sculpture Park

Decatur, Illinois

Summary: The Decatur Parks Foundation is currently accepting submissions for an outdoor sculpture exhibition for 2022-2024. Scovill Sculpture Park is a juried, outdoor exhibition space offering local, regional, national and international sculptor’s opportunities to showcase and sell their creations, while enhancing the cultural environment of Decatur and providing opportunities to educate the public. Our goal for the 2022 Scovill Sculpture Park class is for 10 sculptures to be installed in June 2022.

Dove Springs Public Health Facility

Austin, Texas

Summary: The City of Austin Art in Public Places (AIPP) program of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department (EDD) seeks to commission visual artists, or artist team, to design andfabricate two different artworks for the new Dove Springs Health Facility at 5811 Palo Blanco Lane. Austin, TX 78744.

Budget: $174,000 (for 2 projects)

Pavilion shade structure: $110,000: A foundation platform will be provided at measuring at approximately 18’x 42’. The artists will design, fabricate and install a shade structures that will serve as a meeting place.

Exterior wall: $64,000: The west-facing wall at the entrance to the facility will have an approximate area of 34’ tall x 23’ wide to create a wall hung 3-D artwork or a 2-D artwork to be mounted to the building.

Summary: Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council in partnership with Prince George’s County Revenue Authority and University of Maryland Medical System is seeking to commission one artist or artist team to design, fabricate and install artwork at the new UMCRMC parking garage.
