Today we are happy to announce 15 call for artists with deadlines March 10-20, 2022. There are a variety of opportunities for sculptors with art on loan programs, residencies and site specific commissions.

OUTDOOR Sculpture Loan Program, “Art Around the Clock”

Redmond, Oregon

Summary: The City of Redmond Oregon’s Commission for Art in Public Places (RCAPP) invites artists to submit existing large sculptures able to withstand winter weather conditions for a 2 year loan in the City of Redmond’s OUTDOOR/EXTERIOR Public Sculpture Gallery known as “Art Around the Clock”.

Budget: Selected sculptures/artist will be paid an honorarium of $1,000 for each exterior Sculpture accepted & placed. Three awards will be presented as follows: 1st place: $1,500, 2nd place: $1,000, 3rd place: $500

Special Notes: We are looking for up to 18 exterior sculptures, larger sculptures above 3′ in height are encouraged. Smaller Pedestal bases are 24″ square & stand between 18″-36″ off the ground.

Maker’s Mark Verre Eglomise Commission

Loretto, Kentucky

Summary: LexArts Inc. in association Maker’s Mark Distillery seeks artists to create a Verre Eglomise commissioned work that celebrates the history of handmade craftsmanship in Maker’s Mark bourbon and the importance of water and nature in the distilling process. This artwork will be a focal point in a new bar area of the Victorian Homeplace where guests begin their distillery tour experience. Our goal is to commission proposals by three experienced Verre Eglomise artists for the site with the expectation of realizing one of the proposals by Fall 2022.

Budget: We anticipate that the project budget to be $60,000 – $100,000+. The budget is negotiable but must include travel, research, design, execution, insurance, taxes, site preparation and materials.

Eligibility Requirements: Any artist may apply.

Special Notes: The Verre Eglomise artwork will not exceed 9’ x 12’. The competed artwork will be surrounded by a display of Maker’s Mark bottles.

The three selected finalists will have the opportunity to visit the site, and meet with Maker’s Mark. If the artist travels to Kentucky from another state a stipend of $600 will be made available. Finalists will be paid $1,000 to develop a design and deliver a site specific proposal of composition, concept statement, timeline, budget, and process.

Kinetic Art Program: Wind, Water, and Light

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Summary: The 2022 Kinetic Art Project: Wind, Water, and Light is a new public art initiative managed by Arts Cheyenne, in partnership with the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority and the City of Cheyenne. The Project is a three-year initiative to raise local awareness and create a regional identity for Cheyenne as a center for environmentally-oriented kinetic art.

The Project is seeking six kinetic art sculptures where movement, color, sound and other sensory experiences are the focus. The sculptures will be installed outdoors in the historic West Edge District in downtown Cheyenne from May 2022 until April 2023.

Budget: Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $1,000.

Eligibility Requirements: Artists must be United States residents and own all rights to the sculpture.

Special Notes: The maximum height for each artwork is 20’. Sculptures must be available for sale. Arts Cheyenne will retain a 15% commission on any purchased artwork.

City of Fort Collins Water Treatment Facility Project

Fort Collins, Colorado

Summary: The City of Fort Collins, Colorado, Art in Public Places Program (APP) is seeking submissions to select an artist/artist team to develop art concepts for the entrance of the Water Treatment Facility. The project calls for the creation of artwork for the front entrance to the site, viewable from outside the entry gates to the facility. The artist/team will work with the project team to develop concepts for art at the site.

Budget: $45,000

Eligibility Requirements: This project is open to Colorado artists/artist residing within a 75-mile radius of Fort Collins, CO, who are at least 18 years of age, and legally residing in and authorized to work in the United States. Artist/Team must be able to work effectively and collaboratively with the project’s design team selected by the City of Fort Collins.

Special Notes: The project team would like to see artwork that reflects the critical role that drinking water plays in people’s lives and in the vitality of our community. They would also like the work to reflect the scope and the level of human effort and infrastructure it takes to continuously treat and deliver clean, safe, high quality drinking water to the City’s customers.

2022 Old Town Keller Rotating Sculpture Program

Keller, Texas

Summary: The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking up to six sculptures that are appropriate for public viewing and support the family friendly atmosphere of the City of Keller. Sculptures remain under the artist’s ownership and are loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period. All sculptures must be “family appropriate” and pose no risk to public safety; no sexual, bloody or violent content shall be accepted. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand the harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller.

Budget: $1,500 honorarium shall be awarded for each piece for the installation, exhibition and removal of the artwork for a two-year period.

Eligibility Requirements: The project is open to all professional artists who reside in the State of Texas

Special Notes: Pieces sold while on display may be removed but the artist must replace the sold artwork with a different sculpture, with approval by the Board, within 60 days of removal of the sold piece.

Elected Sculptor Membership

National Sculpture Society

Summary: The NSS Membership Committee will review all applications for Elected Sculptor membership. The applicant is encouraged to submit the focus of their work rather than the range of their work.

ArtScape 6

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Summary: The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is seeking sculptures and temporary installations for its annual ArtScape 6. The Arts Council will place 10-20 works at varied and diverse sites in downtown Fayetteville & surrounding areas. Works will be leased for a period of no less than one year.

Budget: The target range for most leases are estimated at the $1,000 to $3,000 level for a one-year period, however the committee will accept submissions up to a maximum of $10,000 for a one-year lease period.

Special Notes: Artists will have the opportunity to list the works for sale and should provide purchase price with submission and acknowledge if the lease fee will be applied towards the purchase. Artists will receive a payment of 70% on any individual sale; all sold works must remain on display for the duration of the loan period. Artist will also receive a travel stipend of up to $500.00 for travel expenses.

Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program

Roswell, New Mexico

Summary: This program is open to studio-based visual artists working in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video, digital media, and installation. Well known by visual artists as the “Gift of Time”, the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program was established in 1967 to provide gifted studio-based visual artists with the unique opportunity to concentrate on their work in a supportive, collegial environment for an entire year. This gift of time allows artists to work without distraction in an effort to break new ground and focus on individual goals.

Budget: Residents will receive $1,100 per month.

Canal Convergence 2022: Request for Temporary Public Art Proposals

Scottsdale, Arizona

Summary: Scottsdale Public Art seeks proposals for outdoor, temporary public artworks to be featured in and around the Arizona Canal in Scottsdale, Arizona, during Canal Convergence | Celebrating 10 Years of Water + Art + Light. Canal Convergence will be on view for 10 nights from Nov. 4–13, 2022. Some projects may be selected to stay installed for an additional one to two months after the Canal Convergence event dates. This year’s central theme is focused on a celebration of Canal Convergence’s 10-year anniversary.

Budget: We will accept proposal budgets between $5,000 and $35,000

Eligibility Requirements: All local, regional, and international artists, artist teams, architects, designers, and multimedia specialists who have not previously exhibited at Canal Convergence are invited to submit a proposal. Due to evolving COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions, international artists who apply must have remote installation as an option for their proposal.

Special Notes: This call is Phase I of II. Phase I asks artists to focus primarily on the proposal concept, images, rendering, and estimated total budget. Once Phase I closes on March 16, 2022, up to 30 proposals will be selected for Phase II via staff review.

LIFT–Early Career Support for Native Artists

Summary: The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF) is now accepting applications for the LIFT–Early Career Support for Native Artists program, a one-year award and early career support program for emerging Native artists to develop and realize new projects. The program’s focus is to provide financial support and professional development to artists whose work aims to uplift communities and advance positive social change.

Budget: LIFT is a monetary award of $10,000 for a proposed project with a required minimum of $3,000 earmarked for the artist’s benefit and wellbeing. Up to twenty artists will be selected to receive LIFT awards.

Eligibility Requirements: Artist applicant must be an enrolled member or citizen of a federally-recognized or state-recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native corporation, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry.

Zoo Administration Building

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Addison Public Safety Art Installation

Summary: The interior public artwork sought through this announcement will be designed for and installed at the new Administration Building for the Oklahoma City Zoo. The work will be a sculpture which can be either suspended from the ceiling or installed on the floor, a focal point in the building’s lobby and which will reflect and interpret the Zoo’s overarching mission to Connect, Care, and Conserve.

The Zoo’s Mission Statement is to be Oklahoma’s premier destination connecting people and our world’s vanishing wildlife and wild places and the Vision Statement is: A world where people, wildlife and wild places thrive.

Budget: $43,000

All artists and artist teams selected as finalists must attend all required information sessions or site visits.

The City and its Trusts recommend potential proposers register and become familiar with the Periscope electronic proposal process far in advance of submitting their qualifications materials. Addison, Texas

Summary: the call for art will be conducted in three rounds, proposals for round one are currently being sought. A selection committee will identify a shortlist of artists / artist teams to participate in round two of the process. Participants that move to round two will be provided a $1500 stipend to further develop their concept, create a 3-D model, detailed opinion of probable cost and make a presentation to the selection committee. Participants selected to continue to round three will make a formal presentation to the Addison City Council.

Budget: A budget has not been formally established for the project the City Council and selection committee anticipates a project of this scale and magnitude could be in the $100,000 – $150,000 range which would be inclusive of all artist fees and associated expenses such as design, fabrication, lighting, insurance, transportation and installation. Sitework would be in addition to the artwork costs. A specific project budget will be set once an artist and concept has been selected and will be based on the quality, scale, materials and scope of the proposed artwork.

  • A sculpture or landmark that recognizes the service and sacrifice of Addison Fire and Police Departments, service to the community and the importance of public safety.
  • Honor and pay tribute to fallen heroes, past and future, who have lost their life while serving the community.
  • Convey a message of remembrance, sacrifice and duty.
  • Embrace and portray the values, quality and vision up which Addison was been built.
  • Be constructed from durable low maintenance materials that have a proven record for sustaining the harsh outdoor Texas climate.

Request for Qualifications

South Haven, Michigan

Summary: South Haven VanBuren County Convention and Visitors Bureau, working together with the South Haven Center for the Arts, is seeking qualifications for an artist or artist teams to create proposals for a site-specific sculpture and public artwork in South Haven, Michigan. Objectives include: Celebrates and accentuates what is special about South Haven, Michigan including but not limited to the lake front location, landmarks, the natural landscape, and the flora and fauna; Includes the words South Haven, Michigan in it where viewers can photographs with it

Budget: It is anticipated that the budget for each artwork installation will be $50,000; however, creative and engaging concepts of up to $100,000 will also be considered.

Galveston Artist Residency

Galveston, Texas

Summary: Each year, the Galveston Artist Residency awards three fellowships running ten months, from October through July. Each artist receives access to studio space, an apartment, and a monthly stipend of $1,100, and a $500 travel stipend to be granted upon arrival and departure.

Eligibility Requirements: Unfortunately we are not open to international applications at this time. If you are an international artist currently living/working/studying in the U.S. with a valid visa you are eligible to apply. However it is the responsibility of the artist to extend your visa status should you be accepted. We regret that we do not currently have the ability to assist in visa related issues at this time.

Special Notes: The residency is intended as a gift of time for the development of your practice. We are looking for visual artists that are at a point in their life where they need to focus on their work and will benefit from a period of intense studio time.
