Forum Park

Fort Myers, Florida

Summary: By and through its Public Art Committee, the City of Fort Myers seeks to commission an artist/artist team to create a site-specific exterior work of public art that will aesthetically enhance a new park that is being constructed in The Forum, a 706-acre master-planned, mixed-use development.

Budget: $50,000

Eligibility Requirements: Artists who reside in the United States are eligible to apply.

Special Notes: it would not be appropriate to include interactive features that encourage children or adults to climb or play on the artwork. But in addition to traditional artistic aesthetics (line, color, shape and composition), you may incorporate into your design kinetic elements, uplighting and/or projection mapping from conventional or LED light sources. However, please take into consideration Southwest Florida’s tropical climate, which is denoted between June 1 and November 30 each year by searing sunlight, intense heat, high humidity and copious amounts of annual rainfall, as well as Southwest Florida’s susceptibility to tropical storms and cyclones during this timeframe.

Sculpture at the River Market Sculpture Commission Opportunity

Little Rock, Arkansas

Summary: Artists interested are asked to propose a visually interesting, safe, three-dimensional public art piece as a newly designed or existing sculpture. Sculpture at the River Market (“Company”) with the City’s approval has determined the exact placement of the art piece. See site photograph and description. 

Budget:  up to $60,000

Eligibility Requirements: Open to all fine art sculptors who are residents of and/or working in the United States.

Special Notes: Your responsibility will be to create the sculpture and be available for a sculpture committee interview via Zoom if you are one of the finalists. There is a small chance we would request the finalists be present in Little Rock if we have a formal outdoor event.  Of course, this all depends on the COVID 19 situation.

Peace Wall Reimagined

Thornton, Colorado

Summary: The city of Thornton, in collaboration with the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO), is seeking to commission original public art. This project hopes for two outcomes that can both be accomplished by the commissioned artist, 1.) If possible, and depending on state of material, the removal and preservation of existing tiles that can be repurposed into indoor pieces. 2.) A reimagining of the wall with new and unique work that speaks to the location, has a positive visual impact and welcomes visitors to the facility space. The final work should push Thornton into a contemporary setting; becoming a destination-city engaged in conversations on art and culture.

Budget: $37,000

San Pablo Avenue Roundabout

Palm Desert, California

Summary: The sculpture(s) in this roundabout will be the focal point for San Pablo Avenue. The roundabout will serve as the transition from the commercial area into the residential area. Illuminated artworks and multiple sculptures are acceptable as outlined in the specifications below. Sculptures with water features will not be accepted.

Budget: $125,000

Eligibility Requirements: The City of Palm Desert, California, and the Palm Desert Art in Public Places Commission announce a major public art competition open to experienced artists residing in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age

Special Notes: The Art in Public Places Commission will select up to three finalists for the project. All finalists will be required to develop additional presentation materials and a maquette no higher than two feet. Oral presentations will be scheduled in person or via Zoom video call. The City will reimburse artists for the costs associated with creation of the maquette, up to $500. Receipts must be provided for reimbursement.

Trail Winds Rec. Center

Thornton, Colorado

Summary: The city of Thornton, in collaboration with the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO), is seeking to commission original public art. This project will commission large scale, 3D, site-specific work that will have a strong visual impact.

This work will be installed at the Trail Winds Recreation Center located at 13495 Holly Street, 80602.  The project will produce public art work that speaks to the location, have a positive visual impact and welcome visitors to the facility. The final work should push Thornton into a contemporary setting; becoming a destination-city engaged in conversations on art and culture.

Artists are strongly encouraged to explore contemporary materials, themes, and utilize interdisciplinary practices to meet the scope of the project.

Eligibility Requirements: This is an international call; open to all artists, design teams, architectural firms, etc., age 18 and over, regardless of race, sex, color, religion, creed, national origin, gender identity, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or disability.

Special Notes: This public art process will be split into several rounds. This is round one, Portfolio Review. Artists are not required to submit concept designs, but can choose to include them in this first review. Artist who do not submit concepts for the site will not be penalized.

Public Works & Fleet Project

Brighton, Colorado

Summary: Adams County is seeking an artist(s) to create an exterior public art installation  along the 650 ft-long fence line on Dahlia St. The goal is to place original, project-specific artwork to complement the architectural plans for design, inspired by prairie-industrial,using materials including precast concrete and metal to create an industrial-warm atmosphere. 

Budget: $170,000

Special Notes: Artistic inspiration should celebrate the critical work the Fleet and Public Works teams do to support Adams County, and represent the industrial, yet community-focused environment of this area. Additionally, inspiration with an eye toward a sustainable future, and the agricultural history of the area is encouraged.

The project Selection Panel is open to proposals for sculptural and/or mural work.

Art Around Avon

Avon, Colorado

Summary: The Town of Avon, Colorado requests proposals from multiple artists for the Art Around Avon Program to promote the display of visual sculpture art throughout the Town of Avon community for the benefit of residents and visitors.

The Art Around Avon is a new program with the goal of selecting up to nine (9) visual art pieces for installation in pre-determined outdoor spaces in early June 2021.

Budget: Selected artists shall be paid a $900 stipend per piece of work selected.

ArtScape 5 (The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County)

Fayetteville, North Carolina

Summary: The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County is seeking sculptures and temporary installations for its annual ArtScape 5. The Arts Council will place 10-20 works at varied and diverse sites in downtown Fayetteville. Works will be leased for a period of no less than one year.

Artists will have the opportunity to list the works for sale and should provide purchase price with submission and acknowledge if the lease fee will be applied towards the purchase. Artists will receive a payment of 70% on any individual sale; all sold works must remain on display for the duration of the loan period. Artist will also receive a travel stipend of up to $500.00 for travel expenses.

Budget: Lease amounts should range from $1,000 to $3,000 for a one year period.

Special Notes: During the course of the exhibition, there will be a People’s Choice award of $1000.00.

The Arts Council has purchased 8 pieces of public art since 2018, which has resulted in over $100,000 in fees to artists.

2021 Walk of Art

Elk Rapids, Michigan

Summary: Art Rapids! is seeking Artist applications for original sculptures of a size, weight, and material suited to an outdoor park setting. The sculptures will be exhibited at the Elk Rapids Day Park, owned by Antrim County and located in Elk Rapids, Michigan.

The sculpture will be on display continuously for a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years; however the exact time period (“loan period”) will be at the sole discretion of Art Rapids and is subject to the sale rights of the Artist explained in this Agreement. The loan period will begin on the date installation is completed.

Budget: Art Rapids will pay the Artist a stipend of $600.

Greater Baybrook Public Art RFQ

Brooklyn, Curtis Bay and Brooklyn Park (Maryland)

Summary: Greater Baybrook Alliance seeks qualified artists or artist teams to enhance several outdoor places with public art in Brooklyn, Curtis Bay and Brooklyn Park (Maryland). The goal of the project is to further develop community identity and pride, creating visible improvements to community gateways, commercial corridors and nodes, and open spaces. Both temporary and permanent work will be considered, however, the works should have a visual or experiential component that lasts a minimum of five years.

Budget: Up to six semi-finalists will be selected to develop design concepts for this project. Each semi-finalist will be paid a $350-$450 stipend for his/her conceptual design depending on the chosen location. The six semi-finalists will be required to present their designs to the Selection Panel via Zoom or other digital platform.

The Panel will select three artists to further develop designs. Artist finalists will be paid between $15,000 and $40,000 for the commissioned work.

Eligibility Requirements: This opportunity is open to all professional artists over the age of 21. Applicants must reside within the United States.

Special Notes: Once commissioned, the finalists will be responsible for own travel costs, materials, housing, personal liability insurance and engineering drawings associated with installing the work.

Florida Blue Garage-Pocket Park Sculpture Opportunity

Jacksonville, Florida

Summary: Florida Blue, via the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville’s City of Jacksonville Public Art Program, is accepting proposals from Northeast Florida sculptural artists (and artist teams pairing a 2D creator with a 3D fabricator) for a three-dimensional, public art piece which will front the parking infrastructure enhancements recently completed by Florida Blue at 800 Forest Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204 in the Brooklyn neighborhood near Downtown Jacksonville, Florida. It is important the finished artwork for this project be viewable from Forest Street and assist in enhancing this redeveloping neighborhood and its new parking garage – now open to the public annually, after 6pm on weekdays and 24 hours per day on weekends.

Budget: $75,000

Eligibility Requirements: This call is open to all Northeast Florida-based professional artists. Northeast Florida artists (or artist teams) are defined as artists living and working in the State of Florida counties including Duval, Baker, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau, Flagler, Putnam, Union, and Bradford.

Special Notes: Art themes desired for inclusion are health, vitality, tranquility, and unity. The sculpture should stand a minimum of 12’ in height, including the base, and kinetic submissions are favorable.

Art League of Hilton Head Biennale 2021

Summary: Art League of Hilton Head invites you to enter the 2021 Biennale, its 27th National Juried Exhibition, held every other year across multiple media types including; Oil or Acrylic, Pastel, Watermedia, Photography, Mixed Media, Three-Dimensional, or All Other.

2021 Old Town Keller Rotating Sculpture Program

Keller, Texas

Summary: The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking five sculptures that are appropriate for public viewing and support the family friendly atmosphere of the City of Keller. Sculptures remain under the artist’s ownership and are loaned to the exhibit for a two-year period. All sculptures must be “family appropriate” and pose no risk to public safety; no sexual, bloody or violent content shall be accepted. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand the harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller. Pieces sold while on display may be removed but the artist must replace the sold artwork with a different sculpture, with approval by the Board, within 60 days of removal of the sold piece.

Budget:  A $1,500 honorarium shall be awarded for each piece for the installation, exhibition and removal of the artwork for a two-year period.

Special Notes: The Keller Public Arts Board aims to install sculptures that are diverse in style and media. The Board hopes to expose the local community to different types of art, increase tourism and encourage visitors to the Old Town area by providing a dynamic and engaging exhibit.
