Act now to take advantage of these call for artists that have come across our desk. Most deadlines are the 31st of January, but not all, so read through and get those applications in. There are also other commissions and opportunities available from our previous post.

Public Art Consultant + Strategy RFP

Chattanooga, TN

Summary: The City of Chattanooga is seeking proposals from individuals, teams and/or consulting firms specializing in public art plans and projects associated with public/private partnerships, City artist in residence programs and capital improvement projects. The lead consultant should have experience in the administration, planning and project management of public art. Meeting facilitation, community engagement and general planning expertise are also needed and may be skills provided by the consultant’s project team, consultant firm or in collaboration with our local planning partners and resources. The consultant will be tasked with developing a 5 – 10 year public art plan for the City of Chattanooga. We are seeking a plan and process that engages Chattanooga’s diverse, creative community and not only identifies sites, opportunities and goals for public artworks, but also details policy, operational and funding strategies that include achievable action strategies that align with Chattanooga’s unique resources and capabilities.

Budget: $60,000

TASHCO Amphitheater Project

Thornton, CO

Summary:
As administrator of the City of Thornton’s Public Art Program, the Thornton Arts, Sciences and Humanities Council (TASHCO), is seeking to commission a highly innovative, large-scale outdoor artwork that will have a strong visual impact as well as identify the City’s amphitheater.

Budget: This is a call for designs. The artist that is chosen will be awarded $2,000 for a design for a project that will be further developed with the committee.

The production of the artwork and installation will be budgeted and contracted separately between the artists an the City and is not part of this call for entry.

The total project cost is open and will depend upon the design that is selected.

Eligibility Requirements: The project is open to all Colorado artists (and/or artist teams), age 18 and over. Preference will be given to those with previous large scale mural project experience and a connection to the Thornton community

Silverwood Park Call for Artists

Saint Anthony, MN

Summary: Silverwood Park is seeking proposals for outdoor sculpture to be installed in September 2018. One proposal will be selected

Budget: a $5000 honorarium will be awarded to support the creation of the work

Deadline: 1/31/18

Eligibility Requirements: Artists 18 years of age or older who primarily live or work in the Midwest

Special Notes: Duration of installation is a minimum of 2 years

Tatum Park – Interactive Artwork

Chattanooga, TN

Summary: Public Art Chattanooga and the Highland Park Neighborhood Association seek artists and artist led team’s artistic qualifications to design and fabricate a permanent, public art installation that will activate and animate Tatum Park in the Highland Park Neighborhood. Three teams will be interviewed as semi-finalists and one artist or team will be selected for the design and fabrication of a site specific artwork. The Selection Panel is open to reviewing proposals of existing artworks provided they are integrated with a site specific design. This opportunity is open to artists and design teams in the U.S. Artist led teams including architects, landscape architects, engineers and lighting designers are encouraged to apply.

Budget: $45,000

Deadline: January 31, 2018, by 4:00pm Eastern

Heroes Regional Park Branch Library

Glendale, AZ

Summary: The City of Glendale announces two public art opportunities for qualified artists or artist teams to design, fabricate and install artwork for the new Heroes Regional Park Branch Library. One opportunity will be interior, the other exterior. The Glendale Arts Commission and the Library and Arts Department support these two public art projects cooperatively.

Budget: $200,000 (total for both the interior and exterior projects)

Deadline: 5pm Arizona Time 1/31/18

Eligibility Requirements: open to all professional artists residing in the United States

Special Notes:

The focus of the interior public art project is an artist-designed terrazzo flooring that runs through the center of the library (approximately 1600 square feet) with design elements extended through the glass on entry doors and the exterior concrete entryway.

The focus of the exterior public art is a metal sculptural piece for the exterior entry wall (approximately 12 feet by 10 feet), potentially, though not restrictively, in Corten steel, with an optional free-standing metal sculpture in the front landscape area.
