Sculpture Valley’s Acre of Art is Opportunity of Sculptors

Acre of Art logo

Summary: This is an outdoor sculpture exhibition, an art on loan program with potential for purchase.

Sculpture Valley intends to select a dozen works for Acre of Art’s premiere July 2017-July 2019 season and add another dozen works to the outdoor collection during next year’s 2018-2020 exhibition competition.

Acre of Art is the first annual juried outdoor sculpture exhibit of its kind in the Fox Valley offering dimensional artists an opportunity to showcase works while enhancing Appleton’s public spaces. It is funded with sponsorships by area businesses and individual donors. Sponsors are given priority of purchase for hosted works before they are released for public sale at the end of the season.

Sculpture Valley will expand the impact of it’s Acre of Art competition by purchasing one work per season and working with the City of Appleton to permanently place it in the public realm. The goal is to permanently install sculptures from this annual competition within numerous city parks, urban green spaces, and along the expanded trails system of the Fox Valley.

Budget: Acre of Art will offer selected artists a $3,000 honorarium to cover artist expenses such as 24-month lease of the artwork, transportation to and from the installation site, food and lodging, and artist fees for on-site availability during installation and de-installation. If multiple pieces are selected from one artist an honorarium will be awarded for each piece.

Deadline: June 1, 2017 5:00pm CST
