Sculpture Call for Artists: Feb 2023 part 1

Percival Plinth Project 2023
Olympia,Washington
Summary: The City of Olympia is seeking up to 18 loaned sculptures from Washington and Oregon state artists for temporary outdoor display on Percival Landing, a waterfront park at the southernmost end of the Puget Sound in view of the state capitol located in Olympia, WA.
Budget: Selected artists receive a $1,000 honorarium for the one-year loan of their work and are eligible for consideration for the Peoples’ Prize purchase award of up to $10,000, where one sculpture is selected for purchase by public vote and added to the City’s public art collection.

Highlands Biological Station
Cullowhee, North Carolina
Summary: The Highlands Biological Foundation (HBF), a nonprofit partner of the Highlands Biological Station (HBS, a multi-campus center of Western Carolina University) seeks to commission a new, 8 ft., site-specific sculpture for the entrance to the newly completed North Campus.
Proposed Sculptures should be 8-10 ft. tall including 42″base, 4 – 8 ft. wide including base and be constructed of any long-lasting durable material, such as bronze or stone

2023 Art on Parade – Northglenn, CO
Northglenn, Colorado
Summary: Northglenn Arts is conducting an open entry competition to select six sculptures ─ valued at no more than $32,500 each ─ to be part of Northglenn’s “Art on Parade” on-loan sculpture program. The selected pieces will be installed for a period of one year at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park surrounding Webster Lake in Northglenn, Colorado.
Budget: Each of the six finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium to help offset their expenses. In addition, $1,000 will be awarded to the artist who is the recipient of the annual “People’s Choice Award.”

2023 Bonnaroo Call for Artists at Nashville International Airport
Nashville, Tennessee
Summary: The Bonnaroo Works Fund in partnership with Arts at the Airport, are seeking proposals for 4 temporary public artwork Bonnaroo-themed displays at BNA, in Nashville, Tennessee. The display, which will be suspended from the ceiling
June 5, 2023– April 7, 2024, encompasses 4 skylights located in the airport concourses on the secure side of the terminal. Each selected artist will receive an honorarium of $4,500 and 2 General Admission Weekend Passes + 1 Car Camping Pass

Summary: This Request for Qualifications is open to Larimer County artists/fabricators with experience in creating functional artwork. Several areas have been identified as key locations for public artwork; however, finalists will have the freedom to present designs for areas of their choice.

Call for Temporary Light Artworks – 2023 – 2024
New Orleans, Louisiana
Summary: Arts New Orleans is requesting qualifications from national and international artists and artist studios interested in creating temporary projection mapping + VJ installations, laser art, or interactive light sculptures & installations. Artists will be considered for new site-specific commissions. They may also submit existing artworks & installations that are available for temporary exhibition in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Light must be an essential component of the work and not simply illuminate the art. Artists will be considered for 2023 and 2024 opportunities, including LUNA Fête and other events and installations, and will be entered into a registry of artists for future site-specific proposals.

Permanent Light Sculptures for 2023-2024
New Orleans, Louisiana
Summary: Arts New Orleans in partnership with the City of New Orleans is announcing the creation of a new Percent for Art initiative to support the creation and placement of permanent light-based artworks in public spaces across the City of New Orleans. Light must be an essential component of the work and not simply illuminate the art.
This request for qualifications will be used to create a registry of artists who are capable of and interested in creating light-based sculptures in the coming two years. The 2023-2024 call will be used to select artists for the next two years.
Budget: Artist commissions are estimated to range in budget from $25,000 – $100,000.

Eligibility Requirements: Priority will go to artists that reside in Orleans Parish. However, we understand that cost of living within Orleans Parish can be prohibitive. 2023 Art Around Town
Carbondale, Colorado
Summary: Event Dates: 6/1/23 – 2/6/23. All sculptures will be placed on random sized blocks of Colorado Yule Marble. Each piece of marble has a custom steel plate adhered to the top of the marble. Sculptures will be tack welded to the steel plate on top of the marble, so it is imperative that every sculpture arrive for installation with a steel plate attached to the bottom of the sculpture. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made for installation.
Budget: Selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium at the installation of the sculpture in May.

25th Annual Art on the Streets
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Summary: Art on the Streets (AOTS) celebrates the power of art in public places, turning the streets of Downtown Colorado Springs into a yearlong outdoor gallery of sculptures, murals, and installations. More than 300 works have been exhibited Downtown since AOTS began in 1998 and the creative district is home to more than 50 permanent works, over 40 of which have been purchased through AOTS.

Denver Arts Festival, MAY 27 – 28, 2023
Denver, Colorado
Summary: We invite all artists, both Colorado and national, to apply to the 2023 festival. Now in its 24th year, the Denver Arts Festival will be held at the Conservatory Green Plaza area of Northfield in the Central Park (formerly Stapleton) development. The Denver Arts Festival will hold its annual premier event on May 27 – 28, 2023. The fine art exhibition features over 145 visual artists with over 35,000 people expected to attend.

Eligibility Requirements: The mission of the Denver Arts Festival is to create a fine arts festival to showcase both Colorado Artists and National artists.
Special Notes: To honor the mission statement of the event of showcasing Colorado artists, there will be a 60/40% split between Colorado and National artists. The 60% Colorado artist rule will be honored for as long as the quantity and quality of Colorado applications can support it.

Utah Public Art – Mountainland Technical College

Summary: Mountainland Technical College (MTECH) in partnership with the Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management (DFCM) and the Utah Arts & Museums’ Public Art Program requests qualifications from artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site specific artwork(s) for the new Mountainland Technical College campus in Payson, Utah.
The Art Selection Committee encourages artists to consider the students and faculty spending time in the new Payson facility and create a work that reflects this diverse audience. In the development of work for this project, artists may consider the full suite of training offered at the new, comprehensive MTECH Campus (e.g., Apprenticeship, Health, Technology, Service, and Trades programs).
