We close out Sept 2021 with 14 more call for artists. This batch of calls provides sculpture opportunities both in terms of art on loan programs and commissions for original work.

Art Without Walls
Los Altos, California
Summary: Art Without Walls is a new sculpture loan program sponsored by the City of Los Altos Public Arts Commission. Art will be exhibited in business districts, parks and green spaces across our City, which currently showcases 35 loaned and owned pieces of art. This outdoor gallery is open year-round and is free for all visitors. Exhibit art for two years to the Los Altos community which includes potential buyers.
Budget: Artists whose work is selected for inclusion receive a $1,500 stipend to help cover insurance, transportation and other costs.

Glendale Public Art Landmarks RFQ
Glendale, California
Summary: This call for artists will reach out for multiple unique project opportunities across the City of Glendale in California. The aim across the various artwork opportunities is to create world-class public artwork in a diverse range of mediums that are designed to engage the community, showcase the cultural diversity of the city and enhance the various civic and public spaces.
This program is searching for innovative Artists and Artist Teams with an ability to creatively approach engaging and active public art, and a deep understanding of how public art complements and challenges our community and civic environment. Artists or Artist Teams shortlisted through this RFQ will be asked to address the selected locations as landmark visual opportunities and to create an engaging and dynamic element inviting residents and visitors to the City of Glendale to interact, connect and utilize the spaces around the art.
Budget: Each location/opportunity has an allocated budget ranging from $75,000 to $750,000. The exact final commission contracts will be determined based on the approved and selected proposals and the needs of each.

Canyons Village Management Association (CVMA) Forum Placemaking Request for Proposal
Park City, Utah
Summary: Canyons Village Management Association (CVMA) seeks qualified designers, artists and/or sculptors (Bidder) to provide design concepts for an iconic placemaking element. This will be located at the south entry to the Resort Core within the Upper Village of Canyons Village at Park City Mountain Resort area. The selected designer will ultimately be responsible for biddable documents and/or production drawings (if self-executed) through to final installation supervision.
Budget: Project budget is $50,000 and to include artist stipend, supplies and materials.

Glenoaks Blvd Median Installation
Glendale, California
Summary:
Glenoaks Blvd is a roadway spanning across Glendale from its east end in Burbank through Glenoaks Canyon to the west. In North Glendale, near the intersection with N Brand Blvd, W Glenoaks Blvd sports wide medians that make great locations for an art installation. Being at a busy intersection and frequented route into Glendale, the median installation will be a bold, enjoyable statement for those driving past.
This location and project is calling for an Artist or Artist Team to deliver a sculpture that would sit within the median but provide enough visibility to create a gateway or marker to the entrance to Glendale.

Gateway Installation

Summary: Located near the intersection of E Broadway and Artsakh Ave within Glendale’s Arts and Entertainment District, this large installation will be a bold gateway along Artsakh Ave. The installation will be featured in the upcoming remodeled Artsakh Ave streetscape, placing it in the center of outdoor dining spaces, public gathering areas, local businesses, retail and restaurants.
This location and project is calling for an Artist or Artist Team to deliver a monumental and iconic gateway installation or sculpture that would potentially span the street.

Summary: The overhead installation will be located within Artsakh Ave, as both an active and engaging art piece and a shade structure for the public to enjoy in the future outdoor plaza. Due to the location of the installation, the design must be in compliance with Glendale Fire Code. The plaza will include outdoor seating, gathering areas, and nearby businesses, encouraging heavy foot traffic and creating a space the overhead installation will be highly visible.
This location and project is calling for an Artist or Artist Team to deliver an overhead installation that can potentially act as a landmark to the area.

With many people passing by, coming to and from the Museum and Library, or enjoying the open greenery of the Park, this location is perfect for an active installation for the public to engage with.
This location and project is calling for an Artist or Artist Team to deliver a ground level sculpture that can be directly viewed by the public. Options including new media, lighting elements or interactivity are highly recommended.

Winter Light Installation
Superior, Colorado
Summary: The Superior Cultural Arts & Public Spaces (CAPS) Advisory Committee invites creative individuals or teams located in Colorado to submit an initial design concept for a light installation to be located in one of two parks of their choosing: Grasso Park or Purple Park.
This temporary winter light art installation will provide the community with a fun, family-friendly light experience during the long winter nights from approximately December 2021 through April 2022. The installation will be scheduled for late-November or mid-December 2021 and remain on display through March or April 2022.
Budget: $15,000

Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library Plaza Installation
Cincinnati, Ohio
Summary: As part of the larger renovation plan, an art installation will help create a strong anchoring presence, as a unique and iconic work on the public plaza that invites interaction and delight from audiences of all ages. Successful art will be welcoming, inclusive, intriguing, engaging to individuals of all abilities, and attractive to diverse and multi-generational audiences, speaking to “Minds of All Kinds.” Applicants might also consider how the installation for this opportunity might be expanded to an adjacent plaza during a later phase of the renovation.
Budget: $215,000; A design fee of $1,500 to be paid to each selected artist (finalist) for proposal development for Phase 2 of the design process (RFP).

Eligibility Requirements: Professional artists and teams of artists (national & international) who have experience managing, designing, and completing site-specific public art commissions with a budget over $25,000 within the past ten (10) years are eligible; or those who can demonstrate equivalent skills and experience
Special Notes: Color and light are critical elements that will simultaneously draw attention to but also soften the built surrounding environment. Artists should consider the history of the architecture and how they can artistically communicate “nodding to the past while looking to the future.” Beyond form, this piece should function by being equally engaging and magical for Library visitors by day and by night, but illumination at nighttime will be of particular importance.

North 32nd Street Improvements Public Art Project
Phoenix, Arizona
Summary: The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture’s Public Art Program is requesting qualifications from artists to work with a project team to design an integrated public art streetscape concept along 32nd Street from Shea Boulevard to Bell Road in North Phoenix. The selected artist will be expected to work with the community and city to create streetscape enhancements that bolster the visual identity of the area, and improve shade and pedestrian experience. This is an opportunity for artists specializing in three-dimensional design and collaborative design teams.

Dakota Wesleyan Women’s Sculpture Project
Mitchell, South Dakota
Summary: The Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU) Class of 1970 is leading the effort to commission a meaningful suitable sculpture to be placed in front of DWU’s newly constructed School for Business, Innovation and Leadership.
This call is for a commissioned work for a new building on campus. The work will be located in the outside area in front of the building so must be created of durable and permanent material(s). (The approximate area is marked by white X in the headline photo on this call.) Stone, bronze, mosaic, stainless steel, other metal, and/or all other suitable material(s) will be considered. All forms of three dimensional work will be considered and may be realistic or abstract, but should be representative of the goal in some way.
Budget: $35,000; The three final artists will each receive a $500 stipend to create a required maquette model of his/her proposed work. Selected artist must state in his/her proposal whether a deposit is needed to proceed with creating the work, the $ amount required, and when it must be paid.

Summary: The City of Petaluma Public Art Committee (PPAC) is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to California-based artists or artist teams for the design, fabrication, and installation of an original, durable and low-maintenance outdoor public artwork suitable for placement on city-owned property.
